911 Calls From Iryna Zarutska’s Murder Released

The chilling 911 calls from the brutal murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska have been released, revealing the sheer panic of witnesses as they begged for help while the 23-year-old bled out on a Charlotte city bus.

Passengers frantically told dispatchers that a man had pulled out a pocketknife and slashed Zarutska in the neck before fleeing. “A man just f**king stabbed this woman for no reason,” one caller gasped. “Please hurry, she’s bleeding. She’s bleeding a lot.”

Zarutska, who fled the war in Ukraine in search of safety, was seen on viral video curled into a ball as blood poured from her wound. Witnesses tried to save her by applying pressure, but many told 911 she was already “not responsive.” One caller said in shock, “This lady just got stabbed… there is a lot of blood. I think she’s gone.”

Police later arrested Decarlos Brown Jr., a 34-year-old career criminal with 13 prior convictions who was out on bail. In security footage, Brown can be seen loitering by the back door of the bus moments after the attack. He fled on foot but was captured soon after.

Evidence suggests the crime may have been racially motivated. A jailhouse recording reportedly caught Brown boasting after the stabbing, saying, “I got that white girl.” His family says he struggled with schizophrenia, but prosecutors have charged him with murder.

Zarutska’s death has sparked outrage across the country, becoming a symbol for conservatives who point to Democratic-run cities like Charlotte as proof of lawless streets and failed leadership. Her story — a young refugee escaping war only to be slaughtered on public transit — has left many Americans shaken and demanding accountability.
