Acclaimed Gaza Documentary Finds North American Home

A new home has been found for Sepideh Farsi’s gripping Gaza documentary, ‘Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk,’ with North American rights being snapped up by Kino Lorber. This moving film is centered around virtual exchanges with Palestinian photojournalist Fatma Hassona, whose life was tragically cut short in an Israeli missile strike, a day after the film was announced as a selection for Cannes.

The terms of the acquisition were brokered by Kino Lorber’s Vice President of Acquisitions, Karoliina Dwyer, and Sebastien Chesneau representing Cercamon, the global sales agency. The documentary has already experienced a wave of international sales success, illuminating its global impact and relevance.

‘Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk’ initially saw its global debut in the 2025 Cannes ACID section, after which it was showcased at the renowned Karlovy Vary International Film Festival later the same year. The film presents a stark, uncompromising look into the reality of life in Gaza, as experienced through the eyes of those living under siege conditions.

The film is a blend of stark reality and deep human connection, offering viewers an unfiltered glimpse into the life of a generation perpetually entwined in the threads of conflict. It uses the medium of documentary to articulate the everyday survival in a war-torn zone, fully capturing the resonant human stories caught in the crossfire.

The protagonist of the film, Fatma Hassona, faced an untimely demise due to an airstrike on her residence on the 16th of April. This tragic event took place just a day after the film’s distinguished selection announcement for Cannes. Her life and the poignant moments she shared add much to the emotional depth and authenticity of the documentary.

Critical acclaim has followed this documentary, as it has managed to touch a nerve with audiences and critics alike. The film’s gripping narrative and raw depiction of life in a conflict zone have lead to numerous positive reviews and strong endorsements.

Rêves d’Eau Productions is responsible for the production of this poignant film, with a co-production agreement in place with 24images. These production houses have been instrumental in bringing this compelling story from the heart of Gaza to the global stage.

The multi-talented Sepideh Farsi herself has served as the film’s writer, director, and editor, as well as operating behind the camera as the primary cinematographer. Her artistic vision and unique directorial style have shaped the narrative and presentation of ‘Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk’, creating a documentary that leaves a lasting impression.
