Elon Musk Defends DOGE: ‘Most Transparent Organization In Government Ever’
Elon Musk is pushing back hard against critics of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), the reform-driven agency he now leads under President Trump’s second-term agenda. Appearing on Fox News’ The Five, Musk called DOGE “the most transparent organization in government history”, responding directly to growing media scrutiny and legal pressure over the agency’s operations.
“Everything DOGE does is an open book,” Musk said. “We post everything online. You can see it all—unfiltered, uncensored, and in real-time. There’s nothing hidden.”
Musk dismissed allegations that DOGE is too closely tied to agencies that regulate his private companies. Instead, he emphasized that his leadership is focused entirely on streamlining government, eliminating waste, and exposing inefficiency. “There’s no room for corruption when everything is out in the open,” he said. “Try to find a smoke-filled back room. There isn’t one.”

Facing Legal Pressure, But Staying the Course
Despite Musk’s assurances, a federal judge recently ruled that DOGE must release internal documents after watchdog groups sued the agency over record transparency. The judge found that DOGE’s authority was significant enough to warrant full compliance with federal oversight rules, reinforcing the fact that no agency—even one created to cut government waste—is exempt from scrutiny.
Critics argue that DOGE has taken shortcuts on document preservation, raising concerns that its rapid-fire style of reform might sometimes outpace traditional accountability structures. Groups like American Oversight have raised red flags about how DOGE manages emails, meeting records, and decision-making processes.
Musk responded directly: “We’re adjusting fast. If anything is missing or wrong, it will be fixed. But don’t confuse speed with secrecy. We’re building a government model that works—and letting the public see it happen live.”
DOGE’s Impact Can’t Be Ignored
Since its launch, DOGE has slashed red tape across multiple federal departments, uncovering billions in waste and redundancies. Under Musk’s leadership, the agency has earned praise for exposing bloated budgets, eliminating duplicative programs, and fast-tracking innovation across the federal government.
Republicans have praised DOGE as the crown jewel of Trump’s second term—a blunt instrument against bureaucracy, wielded by a man who thrives on disruption. Meanwhile, Democrats and media outlets have tried to paint the agency as a shadow government.
But Musk isn’t backing down.
“We’re not just talking about draining the swamp anymore—we’re building the tools to do it,” he said. “And the American people are watching every step.”
As DOGE moves forward, it’s clear the agency—and its unapologetically bold leader—won’t be backing off reform anytime soon.
