Trump Makes Official Statement About Attending Future Debates

LISTEN HERE:

Former President Donald Trump made a recent statement on his Truth Social media platform regarding his potential participation in future Republican primary debates. Citing a new CBS News poll showing considerable support of 62 percent, Trump explained why he believes skipping the debates is justified.

Trump emphasized his successful presidency, highlighting accomplishments such as Energy Independence, Strong Borders & Military, Biggest EVER Tax & Regulation Cuts, No Inflation, Strongest Economy in History, and much more. With such achievements, he confidently declared, “I WILL THEREFORE NOT BE DOING THE DEBATES!”

As the leading 2024 GOP presidential contender and facing four indictments, Trump and his campaign team are exploring alternative strategies to divert attention from the upcoming Fox News debate in Milwaukee, which is scheduled for later this month.

Engaging in discussions with his advisors, the prospect of a sit-down interview with former Fox News star Tucker Carlson and a cable news blitz have arisen as counterprogramming options.

Although there is no definitive plan yet, conversations are underway regarding a potential interview with Carlson.

Sources have reported that Trump has expressed his hesitation to share the debate stage with his GOP challengers, pointing to his commanding lead in the polls as one reason.

Debate preparation has not been a priority for Trump, according to insiders.

While the possibility exists that he may ultimately decide to participate at the eleventh hour, there are interests from Trump’s advisors to get his allies like Kari Lake, Florida GOP Congressmen Byron Donalds and Matt Gaetz to attend the debate and represent him in the spin room.

Trump has been dropping hints for months that he may not participate in the debate, disregarding the pleas of Fox News president Jay Wallace and chief executive Suzanne Scott to join on August 23rd.

Instead, Trump proposed the idea of a one-on-one interview with Carlson on the same night.

Other prominent figures including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, Senator Tim Scott, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, former Vice President Mike Pence, and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie have qualified for the first debate.

Vanity Fair reported that Trump has been planning to counterprogram the GOP primary debate by making an appearance on Carlson’s popular Twitter show.

Trump, known for his interest in ratings, contemplates conducting an interview with Tucker Carlson simultaneously with the debate, aiming to captivate both audiences.

While discussions have taken place, no decisions have been made. A Trump-Carlson Twitter show could be advantageous for both individuals involved.

Trump would likely find a much friendlier interviewer in Carlson compared to the chosen debate moderators, Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, as Carlson has been known to support Trump’s policies and actions.
