Unraveling Biden’s Questionable Legacy Amid Calls to Step Down

The attempts from Democrats to urge Joe Biden to bow out of the presidential race seem to be wrapped in unconvincing praises. The praises paint a questionable picture of Biden as the hero who rescued the nation from his predecessor, Donald Trump. Yet, we must question the validity of the narrative that the country needed rescue from Trump to begin with. The assertion that Biden has been a highly effective president, as the biased New York Times would like us to believe, simply does not hold water.

Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA) went as far as to hail Biden as ‘one of the most impactful presidents in our nation’s history’ while gently nudging him to step down. However, it’s clear that the impact he’s referring to has been largely negative. Rather than serving as a president who unifies the nation and paves the way for a new generation of leaders, Biden appears to have been swayed by his party’s left wing.

Biden’s administration took over when the economy was already adding 1.4 million jobs each month. He had the opportunity to expedite the economy’s reopening after the COVID pandemic to ensure robust, equal economic growth. Instead, he allowed himself to be persuaded by flatterers suggesting that he could be the next Franklin Roosevelt and pursued unnecessary and excessive spending on partisan lines.

Biden’s unwarranted spending spree has consequences. Inflation has skyrocketed, striking a hard blow to the working class. According to recent data, consumers are now grappling with record levels of debt: $12.8 trillion in housing debt, $1.62 trillion in automobile debt, and $1.1 trillion in credit card debt.

The Federal Reserve Economic Well-Being survey paints a vivid picture of the fallout from Biden’s economic missteps. A staggering 65% of the population report their finances have worsened due to inflation, with 19% stating their situations have become ‘much worse’. Even more telling, 17% of adults note they couldn’t pay their bills the month before the survey was conducted. Small wonder then that Biden’s economic management is disapproved by voters with a 20-point margin.

In addition to the economic failures, Biden took the reins of a country with a secure border, encountering fewer than 2,500 immigrants daily. Yet, only a month after he scrapped Trump’s successful ‘Remain in Mexico’ program, the daily border apprehensions leapt to over 3,500. Despite Biden’s attempts to downplay this as a ‘seasonal’ fluctuation, the figures tell a different story.

The numbers did not stabilize but continued to climb, reaching a record-smashing 9,741 daily encounters in December. Biden’s cavalier approach to border security has had direct consequences for local governments across the nation, which now find themselves straining resources to assist the inflow of illegal immigrants, thereby impacting services for native-born citizens.

Another tragic consequence of Biden’s lax border policies is the increase in crime. Amongst the 3.8 million illegal immigrants, even if only 1% are criminals, that results in 38,000 society threats free within our borders. This is a threat that simply would not exist under Trump’s presidency.

Failing in domestic policy, Biden’s record in foreign policy isn’t looking much better. His lenient approach to the terrorist regime in Iran has resulted in a surge of proxy attacks on American forces throughout the region. Moreover, the easing of sanction enforcement has empowered not only Iran but its proxies, the Houthi rebels and Hamas.

Moreover, Biden’s hasty and disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan is likely to have emboldened Russian aggression. His actions led to the crises we face today, including the death of 13 American service members. Despite the slight redeeming quality of managing NATO’s reaction to the invasion of Ukraine, his sluggish and indecisive response in providing weapons for Ukraine is notable.

Biden has also embarked on divisive domestic initiatives; his policies enforcing the integration of male students into women’s dorms and bathrooms and his efforts to push for the consumption of electric cars come across as unpopular and overbearing. Furthermore, he has been criticized for the apparent selective prosecution of political opponents.

His approval ratings are a testament to his lackluster presidency, the lowest among presidents at this stage of their terms. Flattery from the New York Times or Democrats cannot hide the truth. Biden’s presidency has been a disaster for America, and it’s time for him to step down, not in preservation of a splendid legacy but due to the unimpeded catastrophe he’s left in his wake.
