The apprehended – a minor of 13 and three other youths of 14 years – were arrested on April 25, 2025, indicative of the incident occurring around 7:00 PM in the policing district of the 19th Precinct. They have been accused of participating in a second-degree group assault and a separate second-degree assault, each holding them responsible for the act.

The elder person was reportedly hit with a school bag and was then punched in the visage, resulting in minor physical damage. There is still an active search on for additional individuals who may have participated in the act of violence. Based on the details provided by the authorities, the violent episode took place on a Tuesday evening, precisely April 22, around eight in the evening when a handful of unidentified individuals came across the old man at the crossing of Park Avenue and East 84th Street.

An altercation, initially verbal, quickly escalated when one individual among the group decided to hit the elderly man using a bookbag, followed by punching him, which resulted in the man falling onto the ground.
