LSU Football Newcomer Lindsey Suspended Amidst Murder Case Allegations
JT Lindsey, a new recruit to the LSU football team, is currently on suspension from the squad pending the resolution of a legal issue, according to information provided by his legal counsel to The Advocate. The rising football star is currently embroiled in a serious legal situation, facing charges of indirect involvement in a murder that transpired recently in the Alexandria region of Louisiana. Allegedly, Lindsey played the role of providing accommodation to two key suspects in late last month’s tragic homicide.
The allegations against the promising football player primarily revolve around him supposedly providing shelter for the homicide suspects in his residential space on campus. This controversial situation eventually landed Lindsey in custody. Nonetheless, he willingly surrendered to law enforcement officials after learning that an arrest warrant had been issued in his name by the official LSU Police.
His legal advocate, Kris Perret, in defense of Lindsey, expresses that the freshman running back was completely oblivious to the criminal intent of the two teenagers who he supposedly sheltered. In Lindsey’s understanding, the two individuals sought refuge with him without him having any inkling of their wanted status in relation to a heinous crime.
Perret argued that Lindsey’s integrity would have prevented him from harboring the suspects if he had known about their involvement in an ongoing crime. He emphasized that his client would have not allowed these fugitives to stay at his place if he had known about their unlawful deeds beforehand. As of now, the arrest took place this Monday.
The rising athlete from Louisiana State University is not labeled as a direct perpetrator in this case. However, his repeated sightings with the alleged suspects entering and exiting his dormitory living quarters multiple times served as a provocation for suspicion, as per an affidavit recorded in connection to the case.
The suspects in the murder case are identified as Shemell Jacobs, 17, and Keldrick Jordan, 18. Both teenagers have been continuously pursued by the Alexandria Police Department since the month of May. The crime they are accused of involves the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old youth named Corey Brooks.
The apprehension of both suspects had happened in the premises of LSU’s Nicholson Gateway Apartments earlier this week. Additional evidence pointing towards Lindsey’s possible involvement arose when the U.S. Marshals discovered during their investigation that Jacobs was found to be in possession of Lindsey’s personal identification.
