Trump Exposes ABC and NBC’s Biased Reporting Tactics

In a press conference held at the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room on a sunny August 11, 2025, former President Donald Trump expressed deep frustration with media giants ABC and NBC News. Trump leveled harsh accusations against these networks, categorizing their reporting as ‘devious journalism’ and arguing that this kind of reporting shouldn’t receive any accolades.

Trump fired off a series of tweets late into the night, visibly irked by the perceived injustices. He argued that despite his resounding public approval, and what some hailed as the greatest stretch of eight months in Presidential history, ABC and NBC News have given him a conspicuously high percentage of negative coverage, almost to the point of absurdity.

Regardless of Trump’s impressive popularity or accomplishments, these two notoriously biased networks saw fit to churn out 97% negative stories about him. He made his case even more emphatically by suggesting that under such circumstances, the networks act as nothing more than an extension of the Democrat Party.

Trump urged that their broadcasting licenses should be revoked by the FCC according to the allegations of many, a suggestion he claimed to wholeheartedly support. This notion was founded on his belief that the networks are not just biased, but actually untruthful to the point of harming our democratic principles.

Escalating his argument, Trump questioned the reason these alleged bias networks didn’t contribute millions to licensing fees. Expressing his exasperation, Trump indicated that the least these networks could do was foot the bill for the privilege of transmitting their content through the valuable airwaves at any given time.

He darkly suggested that these offenders lose their broadcasting privileges altogether because of their unequal treatment of Republicans and conservatives. At the very least, however, he fervently demanded they pay sizeable fees. Any rewards or incentives should be terminated, not bolstered, for such ‘corrupt journalism’, as Trump put it.

Continuing his tirade, he expressed his faith in the American public by claiming the highest poll numbers he has ever seen despite the negative bias of the ‘Fake News’. He used this high approval ratings, some reaching into the 60’s and even 70’s, to thank his supporters and reiterate his rally cry of ‘MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!’

Fox News followed up on Trump’s surprising call for FCC interventions. They explained that ABC and NBC News, being national networks, do not actually hold FCC licenses, but they provide programming to local affiliates that are regulated and licensed by the FCC.

These stations, they further clarified, are required to pay licensing and annual regulatory fees based on their type and market. On the other hand, cable outlets bear their own regulatory charges, demonstrating that payment structures aren’t as simplistic as Trump’s tweet suggests.

Only the U.S. Congress has the power to impose and demand such fees. Any revenue generated from these charges is funneled directly into the U.S. Treasury. Therefore, revoking broadcasting licenses on the grounds of perceived news bias would infringe upon First Amendment protections, suggesting that Trump’s suggestions might be more complex than initially inferred.

Further assessment reveals that any attempts to punish news outlets for their broadcast content have been historically shot down by the judiciary, once again adding another cautionary layer to Trump’s late-night tweets.

WorldNetDaily shed light on Trump’s previous defamation suit against ABC. In this instance, the network was forced to settle for a whopping $15 million due to a grossly inaccurate claim by anchor George Stephanopoulos. Stephanopoulos had falsely declared the President-elect was found civilly liable for a serious accusation from a writer named E. Jean Carroll.

In a related incident, Trump took legal action against CBS for a suspiciously edited interview of Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential race. As a result, CBS and parent company Paramount had to cough up a settlement of $16 million, with another sum of $20 million coming their way.

These incidents underscore the discord and simmering tension that exists between Trump and major news networks. Incidents like these illuminate the vast divide between the Trump administration and mainstream media, bringing into sharp focus the clash of ideologies and interests that shape the United States of America.
