Woman in Patna Bludgeons Live-In Partner to Death Amid Dispute

A horrifying incident unfolded in a rented apartment near TPS College, located in the Chiraiyatand area under the Kankarbagh police precinct in Patna on a tragic Saturday. A young woman, aged 28, is alleged to have committed a gruesome crime against her live-in partner, a 30-year-old man. The latter was reportedly bludgeoned to death in his sleep, with an iron rod and a grinding stone serving as the murder weapons.

Authorities have identified the woman as Pooja Kumari, who, driven by ire, allegedly escalated a heated dispute into a violent act. The confrontation between Kumari and her partner, Murari Kumar, reportedly turned fiery, leading to a fatal outcome. Kumari, wielding an iron rod and a grinding stone, supposedly delivered multiple blows that culminated in Kumar’s instantaneous death.

Following the crime, it appears that Pooja Kumari chose not to flee the scene. Instead, she stuck around, maintaining her calm, seated next to the lifeless body of Kumar. It was hours later that police received a call from her, admitting to the horrific act she had committed. The enforcement agency immediately responded, leading to Kumari’s arrest on the subsequent day.

Crime scene investigators reached the site and conducted an initial survey, uncovering the lifeless body of the victim. Forensic specialists that were called to the scene then gathered samples for further analytical assessment. The story began to take shape as the investigation activities at the crime scene carried through, using both the physical evidence and CCTV coverage in the area.

Corroborating the evidence with the recorded surveillance footage, and based on the conditions at the scene, legal experts came to the conclusion that Murari had been killed while he was asleep. Murari, a truck driver hailing from Mokama, had been interacting with Pooja. He had been in a steady relationship with her since 2021, before they decided to live together from May onwards. However, Murari primarily worked in Bengaluru, taxing their long-distance relationship with strains of separation and communication gaps.

Approximately ten days ahead of the unfortunate incident, Murari had made a trip to Patna. He had returned to enjoy a vacation, dividing his time between his familial house and the residence of Pooja. Despite his attempts to balance the duelling sides of his life, the discord between him and Pooja escalated significantly.

The core reason for their disagreement, that led to frequent shared moments of discord, was a mounting pressure put on him by Pooja to tie the knot. Although the two were living together, Murari was reportedly been evasive regarding the subject of marriage, causing sustained tension between them.

In an extreme manifestation of that mounting tension, Pooja ended up resorting to violence, putting an end to Murari’s life on a fated Saturday night. The outbreak of such an act of violence, extreme and shocking, ripped through the silence of their home, casting a sombre shadow over their domestic life.

At the very moment the crime was unfolding, Pooja’s six-year-old daughter and another girl, a teenager aged 15, were reportedly asleep in an adjoining room. The violent transactions were carried out undisturbed as the pair dozed off, utterly oblivious to the horrifying act taking place nearby.

Police investigations into the case have brought to light potential pieces of evidence that might serve key roles in the case. Sources claim that the police have obtained access to certain call records involving Pooja. These could potentially provide a deeper understanding of the events leading to the eventual crime.
