Kirby Air Riders Is Out Now on Nintendo Switch 2
Kirby’s back—and this time, he’s trading platforming for high-speed aerial chaos. Kirby Air Riders has officially launched for the Nintendo Switch 2, bringing a modern twist to the cult-classic Kirby Air Ride from the GameCube era.
This brand-new entry isn’t just a remake. It’s a full-fledged reimagining, blending fast-paced racing with chaotic multiplayer action, all drenched in the bright, colorful charm fans expect from the Kirby universe.
A Return to City Trial and More
At the heart of Kirby Air Riders is an expanded version of City Trial, a mode that lets players roam a massive open map collecting power-ups, vehicles, and upgrades before heading into a surprise final event—anything from a glider race to a last-Kirby-standing brawl. The original City Trial was a fan favorite, and the new version doubles down on scale, unpredictability, and strategy.
Alongside City Trial, players can dive into traditional racing, time trials, battle arenas, and even co-op boss fights. The controls remain simple and approachable, with vehicles handling uniquely depending on the model you choose—from nimble gliders to bulky tanks.
All-In-One Package, No DLC Needed
Director Masahiro Sakurai has confirmed that everything is packed in from day one. There are no planned downloadable content packs or expansion passes. What you see is what you get—a complete, polished game focused on fun right out of the gate.
This approach is a rarity in today’s gaming market and a welcome one for players who miss the days of fully featured console titles at launch.
Multiplayer Mayhem, Online and Off
Kirby Air Riders supports up to four players locally and eight online. Competitive ranked matches, casual races, and rotating weekly events give players plenty to come back for. You can customize your Kirby with different colors, hats, and even machine decals to show off your style.
New Characters, New Worlds
While Kirby is the star, this game brings in a whole lineup of familiar faces like Meta Knight, King Dedede, Bandana Waddle Dee, and even some surprise guest riders from the wider Nintendo universe. Each has their own strengths, weaknesses, and favorite rides.
Visually, the game is stunning on the Nintendo Switch 2. With smooth 60FPS gameplay, massive map draw distances, and dazzling effects, it’s easily the most ambitious Kirby title to date.
A Strong Start for Switch 2
With Kirby Air Riders, Nintendo delivers one of its most energetic multiplayer offerings yet. Whether you’re chasing online wins or gathering friends for couch chaos, it’s a must-play for fans of party racers and Nintendo’s pink puffball alike.
The game is available now both digitally and physically. Let the air-riding begin.
