Alec Baldwin Wrecks Wife Hilaria’s SUV in Hamptons Crash While Dodging Massive Garbage Truck
Alec Baldwin says he’s lucky to be alive after crashing his wife’s white Range Rover into a tree Monday morning in East Hampton.
The 67-year-old actor, accompanied by his brother Stephen Baldwin, was behind the wheel when he claims a massive garbage truck abruptly cut him off on a quiet residential road. In a video posted hours after the crash, Baldwin said he swerved to avoid the truck and instead slammed into what he repeatedly described as a “big fat tree.”
“To avoid hitting him, I hit a tree,” Baldwin explained. “I hit a big fat tree and crushed my car—my wife’s car.”
Photos from the scene show the Baldwin brothers standing next to the smashed front end of the luxury SUV, which was still lodged against the tree following the collision.
Despite the dramatic impact, both Baldwin and his brother walked away without injury.
“My wife’s car is pretty smashed up,” he said. “I feel bad because it’s my wife’s car, but I’m okay.”
The actor took time in his video to thank local first responders and express affection for his wife. “Hilaria, I love you more than anything. I’m very proud of you,” he said before jokingly motioning to his head, calling himself “crazy.”
Baldwin ended the message by revealing plans to fly to Los Angeles for a family visit.
The accident comes as Hilaria Baldwin makes headlines of her own, recently blaming her elimination from Dancing With the Stars on what she called “very coordinated, very strategic bullying.”
Police have not said whether any citations were issued, and Baldwin did not confirm if the truck driver remained at the scene.
“Big tree. Big fat tree,” Baldwin said once more, summing up the crash in typical Baldwin fashion.
