Ben Exposes Haverford’s Nuclear Dystopia in ‘The Terminal List: Dark Wolf’ Finale

In the concluding episode, ‘The Wolf You Feed,’ of ‘The Terminal List: Dark Wolf,’ Ben manages to expose Haverford’s illicit nuclear trades with Iran. This revelation proves to be a turning point in Ben’s life, enabling him to wipe his slate clean and assure the innocence of his comrades – Tal, Mo, and Landry. Following these events, an enticing opportunity emerges for them to become part of the esteemed Ground Branch, an elite unit of the CIA.

The finale of season one also features the much-anticipated return of Chris Pratt’s character, James Reece. This marks Reece’s first reappearance since the show’s inaugural episode. The season placed a significant emphasis on Ben’s life following his dishonorable discharge from the Navy SEALs, taking viewers through a journey of lies, vengeance, and redemption.

The conclusion leaves viewers with countless unresolved questions and subplots that pave the way for ‘Dark Wolf’s’ second season. Among the most intriguing revelations is the fact that Reece, along with half of Alpha Platoon, was instrumental in saving Ben. Given the involvement of Ben in the cover-up and conspiracy ensuing from the fatal ambush of Alpha Platoon, these details add profound layers of shock and tragedy to his eventual betrayal.

In his mission to hunt down Haverford, Ben risked exposure by getting back on the grid, providing Tal with the opportunity to track Haverford’s location by breeching his Virtual Private Network. Ben’s allies, Landry and Mo, step in to deal with two pivotal figures, Artem and Cyrus, both of whom were deeply entrenched in Haverford’s nuclear dealings with Iran.

The duo orchestrated a scheme with Haverford to deliver genuine nuclear bearings to Yousef Saed, the Iranian Prime Minister. Furthermore, Haverford confessed to hiring the assassin responsible for planting a car bomb intended for Ben, which led to the death of Eliza instead, adding a more personal vendetta to Ben’s mission.

Ben, however, chose not to end Haverford’s life, opting instead to leave him to face the consequences of his actions, dishonored and imprisoned. A fate, in Ben’s perspective, worse than death for a person like Haverford, ensuring no accolade would grace his name at CIA headquarters in Langley.

Haverford’s true intention was to indirectly incite a war by transforming Iran into a nuclear powerhouse, posing a threat to Western powers like the U.S and its ally, Israel. The heinous plan stemmed from his resentment towards Iran, whom he sole blames for American military disasters, citing incidents like the Vietnam war casualties and the 1983 bombing of a Marine barracks in Lebanon.

In Haverford’s tainted perspective, these colossal American sacrifices are elements that validate his warmongering ways. He held the U.S. accountable for not leveraging its full military might to rectify these tragedies, placing all fault on Iran. In his twisted ideology, empowering Iran’s nuclear capabilities would have sparked war, initially with Israel and later broadening to the U.S, making his lifelong dream a dreadful reality.

As Ben highlighted, had Haverford’s distorted view been realized, it would have cost millions of innocent Iranian lives. This revelation leaves one wondering what Ben’s future holds within CIA’s Ground Branch and how this experience would shape it.

Despite their deep-rooted differences, Haverford correctly observed a shared characteristic between himself and Ben – a defiant attitude towards authority and unwavering belief in their versions of right and wrong. These remnants of his past discharge from the SEALs for eliminating a CIA asset tied to ISIS still simmer within Ben, setting him up for an unpredictable journey.

These characteristics might manifest themselves more potently in ‘Dark Wolf’ season 2, potentially making Ben a significant player in the Ground Branch’s operations. With those involved with Haverford now cleared of charges, we’re left to ponder whether Ben and his comrades will regroup for the next chapter, or whether their paths will diverge.

The culmination of ‘The Terminal List: Dark Wolf’ season one leaves the audience on the edge of anticipation for the next season. The compelling manner of storytelling and the intricacies of the narrative is designed to evoke the possibility of a series extending beyond a second season.
