Biden and Harris Turning a Blind Eye to Deadly Fentanyl Crisis

The legislative body took a significant step on Tuesday to address China’s crucial involvement in proliferating the scourge of fentanyl, a drug causing a catastrophic number of fatalities amongst American adults aged 18-45. A glaring finger of accusation is pointed at the Chinese Communist Party, who have been instrumental in fabricating this calamity that is sweeping across our nation. Chinese manufacturing of fentanyl, its covert funneling through cartels to our lands, bestows upon them a pivotal role in this catastrophic saga.

In a stalwart response, the House green-lighted the ‘Stop Chinese Fentanyl Act’. This act displays unwavering conviction in declaring war on fentanyl manufacturers. Any Chinese organization, individual, or arm of the government engaged in production, sale, financing, or transportation of synthetic opioids or precursor chemicals will face stringent U.S. sanctions.

A concerning dimension of this act targets entities demonstrating inadequate ‘know-your-customer’ procedures or displaying marked defiance towards U.S. counternarcotics initiatives. The act is laser-focused on throttling the supply chain, exposing lacunae in oversight, and retaliating against any refusal to collaborate with the United States in its fight against this escalating drug crisis.

Mexico’s infamous crime cartels are reportedly hatching their poison, using a chemical primarily procured from China, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration. A most unsettling revelation underpinning the full extent of China’s role in inflicting the fentanyl catastrophe on American soil.

The previous administration’s ineffective, porous border policies have predictably festered into an escalating narcotics trade breaching our southern borders. This lax stance has catalyzed an alarming surge of fentanyl into American neighborhoods.

In the fiscal year 2025 alone, the forces at Customs and Border Protection have intercepted an overwhelming 10,000 pounds of fentanyl. This figure may seem large, but it was still a sharp drop from the staggering 22,000 pounds seized in fiscal year 2024 and a monstrous 27,000 pounds back in 2023.

Bearing in mind that just 2 milligrams of fentanyl can snuff out a life, the import of these figures becomes alarmingly clear. We are awash in an ocean of potent, lethal poison, and it drifts endlessly onto our shores, carried on the tides of apathetic politics and foreign negligence.

Fentanyl is implicated in almost 70% of overdose deaths. And where does the DEA say most of this deadly fentanyl hail from? Why, China, of course. This connection — so tragic in its transparency — has become impossible to ignore or distort.

Biden’s haphazard mismanagement and patchwork policies continue to grease the wheels for this catastrophe to play out unabated. In Kentucky alone, fentanyl is responsible for nearly 70% of overdose fatalities. And still, Harris and Biden’s administration is characteristically silent, inept, and stupefied in the face of such an acute crisis.

Our current administration’s profound oversight and continued failure to address these damning figures head-on is a gross dereliction of responsibility. Every citizen, every community suffering the brutal repercussions of this fentanyl crisis, deserves leaders who are willing to call a spade a spade and take the necessary hard line against those that contribute to this disaster.

No amount of smoke and mirrors can hide the fact that these drugs are tearing families apart daily. And yet, the Biden-Harris administration remains locked in its ivory tower, bandied about by political winds while its citizens, their constituents, drown in a flood of lethal chemicals.

Our leaders’ fatal complacency to this devastating epidemic only serves to underline their detachment from the heartbreaking reality facing their fellow citizens. The time for sidestepping is over. What America needs are leaders who are willing to grapple with tough issues head-on, not turn a blind eye to the suffering of millions.

The ‘Stop Chinese Fentanyl Act’, having passed in the House, now awaits Senate judgment. What remains to be seen is whether our Senate will step up where Biden and Harris have so far stumbled, delivering the hard-hitting legislation required to penetrate the thick fog obscuring our fight against fentanyl.

With bated breath, we wait for the Senate to demonstrate the courage and resolve that the current administration seems to lack. Will they act decisively, marking a shift from the hand-wringing that has characterized the Biden-Harris approach to fentanyl and other hardline drug issues? Only time will tell.

This is a haunting crisis that threatens to claim more lives, offering a stark testament to the failures of our current leaders. As the Senate contemplates its move, one can only hope that they will adopt a hardline stance, not given to the caprices of political viewpoints, but defined by a relentless drive to shield our people from the ravages of Chinese-manufactured fentanyl.
