Despite Democrats’ attempts to shift blame onto Republicans for the current state of the US economy, it’s abundantly clear the root cause began during the term of former President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. That term was marked by a significant rise in the cost of living that continues to impact American households. This reality sheds light on the misguided political tactic employed by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).

In July, the DCCC launched an interactive tool to try and spotlight price increases since the Republicans gained control. The tool is designed to emphasize the soaring prices of everyday grocery items and say, ‘See? These increased under the Republicans.’ But digging a little deeper reveals the glaring double standard.

Interestingly, the data supporting DCCC’s claims starts from 2022, a time when Biden and Harris were controlling the White House, and Democrats had dominance over the House. This fact belies the Democrats’ attempts to paint the Republicans as the culprits for the financially uncomfortable situations many Americans find themselves in today.

It’s also worth mentioning that, for the entire duration of 2022, the House was under the control of Democrats, with Republicans only gaining control in January 2023. Plus, the Democrats held the Senate until the start of this year too. How then, can the issue of ‘soaring costs’ conveniently ignore this crucial part of recent history?

Despite the glaring inconsistencies in their allegations, the DCCC pressed on, saying that Republicans were spoiling everyone’s Labor Day festivities by making everything costly. But it’s clear who Americans should hold responsible for their empty wallets.

In fact, the DCCC’s attempts to manipulate perception reached a new level when they initiated an advertisement campaign. This campaign is designed to attack Republicans over inflation and other economic woes just before Labor Day. Hardworking Americans deserve better than to be used as pawns in political blame games.

Sadly, the wave of price increases didn’t stop at the grocery store. An inconvenient truth for the Democrats is that during the Biden-Harris administration, many American households struggled to afford daily necessities. Furthermore, energy costs saw a significant rise during their tenure.

Predictably, not a peep is heard from the Democrats about the troubling inflation rates that soared during the Biden administration. In fact, under Biden, inflation rates skyrocketed to an alarming 9.1% in July 2022.

Incidentally, the Democrats tried to manipulate the narrative again when they published a graphic showing a significant increase in grocery prices between 2021 and 2024. The caption blamed everything on ‘Trump’s America’, conveniently ignoring the undeniable fact that it was Biden who was at the helm during that period.

Even as American households grappled with the affordability of groceries, Biden has been quick to defend his economic policies since leaving office. This is despite the Consumer Price Index witnessing a moderate increase and wholesale prices reporting a higher than expected rise.

In July, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a seasonally adjusted increase of 0.2% in the Consumer Price Index, a key indicator of inflation. But that’s not the full story – the wholesale prices shot up by 0.9% during the same period, significantly higher than what was anticipated.

Blatant attempts to rewrite history by the Democrats only serve to bury the reality of their four-year economic debacle further. The proof is in the pudding, and the American people know the truth about the economy under Biden and his Democrats.

A spokesman from the National Republican Congressional Committee was correct when he said, ‘Democrats spent four years torching the economy, and they can’t pretend to hide it.’ The Democrats’ economic policies during Biden’s term had far-reaching negative impacts on the ordinary Americans.

Indeed, the audacious plan of the Democrats to remind voters of how life was under Biden and his team seems counterintuitive. But if that’s the route they want to take, then no one can object to them repeating their own failures every single day.

In the end, American voters are far too discerning to be taken in by such blatant manipulation. They’ve lived through the Biden administration, and they’re savvy enough to see that the actions of the past have direct consequences for their present.
