Ex-UFC Fighter Ben Askren in Critical Health Battle

A prevailing worry making the rounds in the mixed martial arts (MMA) community involves the wellbeing of ex-UFC competitor Ben Askren. Recently, his spouse, Amy, disclosed that he was grappling with severe health issues and described his condition as critical. Yet, amid the crisis, Daniel Cormier had offered an optimistic update stating that Askren had been discharged from the hospital. Unfortunately, these updates proved incorrect.

To clarify, Cormier went ahead to disseminate an additional update unraveling the harsh reality encompassing Askren’s deteriorating health conditions. His disclosure was made on the reserve ‘Good Guy/ Bad Guy,’ a place known to many of Askren’s close associates, unveiling the daunting medical battles the retired UFC fighter has had to grapple with, following an issue concerning his back a fortnight ago.

It became evident that Askren’s situation had significantly worsened due to an infection that had infiltrated his entire system. Though initially extending his hospital stay in Las Vegas, Askren, fondly known as ‘Funky,’ was eventually evacuated back to Wisconsin, his home state, to receive more specialized medical care.

Presently, Askren remains hospital-bound, his primary goal being recovery. As such, a plea for the offering of thoughts and prayers for both him and his family during these challenging times has been extended to the public.

Cormier, while giving updates, stated, “Infection had mercilessly invaded Ben’s body, initially necessitating his hospitalization in Vegas before the need for airlifting him back to Wisconsin became necessary. At present, he still resides in a hospital as his path to recovery continues. We implore prayers for both Ben and his family daily.”

At this moment, Askren finds himself contending with serious health complications. As early as two weeks ago, he had reported experiencing troubles with his back.

Borralho, a Brazilian athlete, found himself at the receiving end of severe criticism recently when he mistakenly posted an ‘R.I.P.’ message for Askren, laboring under the false belief that the seasoned MMA fighter had already passed away. It didn’t take long for him to rectify his error and take down the post.

The miscommunication was likely due to Borralho, primarily Portuguese-speaking, misconstruing a black-and-white tribute message from Maycee Barber posted in support of Askren’s ongoing fight against pneumonia, as a declaration of Askren’s purported death.

Amy, in the meantime, stepped in to address these unfounded rumors, categorically denying them, and requesting the cessation of further spread of this erroneous information. She accentuated the fact that Ben remains alive, engaged in a fight for his life, requiring unwavering backing rather than further conjecture or speculation.

Amidst Askren’s health troubles, the MMA fraternity is expressing its unwavering support, with everyone optimistic about his triumphant victory over this grave health obstacle. The hope is for him to tackle these challenges with the same tenacity and steadfastness that marked his illustrious fighting career.
