Failed 2024 Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris: A Laughable Attempt at Policy Making

Kamala Harris, known for her unsuccessful 2024 bid for presidency, is presently considering launching an ‘institute of policy and ideas.’ This comes on the heels of an extended stint out of the limelight following her resignation from the vice-presidency. Speculation continues that Harris harbors aspirations for another attempt at the Oval Office or possibly setting her sights on the governorship of California. A key advisor has been actively networking with universities examining the feasibility of housing her proposed think tank.

Nelson Brian, a faithful assistant to Harris for many years has interfaced with institutions such as Stanford and Howard Universities on the aforementioned idea. However, a section of her supporters have warned her on the risks entailed with fund collection for her ambitious center. Their contention stems from potential scrutiny in successive political races, banking on who the donors end up being.

Throughout her failed presidential campaign in 2024, Harris was subject to fierce criticism. Her tendency to evade a plethora of radical left-handed policy stances that she used to promote enthusiastically during her 2020 candidate run was one of those instances. A distinct lack of details surrounding her proposed plans if she indeed proved victorious in the 2024 race did nothing but add to the critique.

Furthermore, Harris’s reputation for her infamous ‘word salad’ responses to rudimentary questions hasn’t done her any favors. Her routine fallback on non-sequiturs and strange anecdotes during public addresses has not gone unnoticed. She faced ridicule consistently both for her public speaking style and for her lack of coherence.

In spite of leaving office, the 2024 defeat against President Donald Trump continues to weigh heavily on Harris. The loss of both the popular vote and the Electoral College was significant, given that traditionally democratic voting groups shifted their support to Trump. Even with this noted shift, Democrats primarily hold former President Joe Biden and his team liable for their baseless conviction in Biden’s ability to secure a win.

The extent of Harris’s defeat in the 2024 election was such that her team firmly maintains that Harris could have bested Trump had she enjoyed a campaign period longer than 107 days. According to them, Biden’s sudden withdrawal from the race due to his dismal performance in the late June 2024 debate against Trump left her with too limited a time span for campaigning.

Adding a spanner to the works is Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Harris’ running mate, who is speculated to harbor presidential aspirations himself. Seemingly undiscouraged by the defeat, Walz has realistically maintained a national presence, embarking on a town hall tour spanning the country in the months following the Election Day.
