Fake Doctor’s Botched Surgery Claims Woman’s Life In NYC
Regrettably, a woman lost her life due to an unsuccessful cosmetic surgery procedure conducted by an individual who falsely claimed to be a certified doctor in New York City, as confirmed by law enforcement authorities.
The New York Police Department’s representative further shared that the cause behind the woman’s sudden demise shall be determined by the Chief Medical Examiner. The victim was later identified as Maria Penaloza Cabrera.
The tragic event follows the arrest of a man, Felipe Hoyos-Foronda, 38, who was detained on March 28, only weeks prior to the unfortunate incident. He allegedly had performed medical procedures illicitly, which subsequently led to serious injuries.
In an official statement, the representative added that Hoyos-Foronda was apprehended at John F. Kennedy International Airport. He was allegedly anticipating a connecting flight to Colombia, presumably in an attempt to escape.
His charges hold him accountable for second-degree assault and unauthorized practice of a profession, both severe offenses considering the implications.
Maria Penaloza Cabrera, the victim, had allegedly visited Hoyos-Foronda’s residence on 35th Street in Queens between 1 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. on March 28. The purpose of her visit was reportedly to get her ‘butt lift implants’ removed.
During her procedure, a law enforcement officer noted in the official report that Hoyos-Foronda had supposedly administered lidocaine to Cabrera via a syringe. This allegedly led to a critical situation where she suffered from a heart attack.
Lidocaine is indeed a localized anesthetic, primarily employed to numb the area by blocking the signals at the nerve endings in the skin. A misuse of such a powerful substance can evidently lead to perilous outcomes.
Post the incident, Cabrera was instantly rushed into medical care. According to the hospital authorities, she was intubated. Further bad news came when it was discussed that she exhibited zero brain activity, and they feared she was unlikely to recover.
