Florida Officer Charged with Child Exploitation in Georgia

Freshly procured legal documents from a federal court shed light on disturbing accusations against a South Floridian law enforcement agent, aged 51, allegedly involved in a sexual relationship with an underage girl from Georgia. The officer in question, Carle Miranda Blum from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, was apprehended on a Tuesday in Roswell, a suburb of Atlanta in Georgia. Federal authorities have since disclosed her detention on the grounds of two counts of child exploitation.

The formal federal charges against Blum were lodged in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. FBI Special Agent Nicole D. Harris-Correa reported that the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office was informed about the suspect relationship between Blum, a resident of Homestead, and the 17-year-old girl from Georgia on the 14th of July. The federal complaint, however, does not disclose information about how the pair initially made contact.

Further details from the witness state a marked decline in the young girl’s mental well-being over the preceding year, a time period that corresponds with her involvement with Blum. Following her 18th birthday, she reportedly attempted to board a flight bound for Miami, but was prevented from doing so due to implementation of the Baker Act procedure. Of significance is that a bag checked onto this flight was later collected by Blum from Miami International Airport.

The witness’ testimony on the 17th of July provided investigators with access to the teenager’s mobile phone. Among the contents were a number of videos allegedly displaying sexual encounters between Blum and the underage girl. These videos, recorded whilst the girl was still 17, feature instances of apparent violent behavior by Blum towards the teenager, including scenes where she seems to be choking her.

Scrutiny of these discoveries led investigators to the conclusion that Blum had taken trips to Atlanta for sexual liaisons with the girl. Evidence supporting this was found in direct messages on Blum’s ‘@kibblz_n_bitz’ Instagram handle. It became apparent that she had purchased the teenager a Honda Accord, and that the majority of their online exchanges bore romantic or sexual undertones.

These conversations included repeated instances where Blum ‘counted down’ the days until the girl reached the age of majority. Numerous times, the deputy professed her intentions to marry the girl upon her turning 18 along with her frequent allusions to the young woman as her ‘wife’, according to the FBI records.

Moreover, the correspondence contained explicit images and videos sent from the girl to Blum. A conversation dating back to the 28th of February revealed Blum making explicit and aggressive comments towards the girl. She confessed her longing for the girl’s attention and, disrupting, expressed a cessation of her sexual requests from the girl.

Further investigation uncovered a shared album titled ‘c’ in the girl’s phone, assumed to be short for ‘Carle’. It housed screenshots from a shared Google Doc, displaying a series of ominous messages allegedly from Blum. In this document, she purportedly threatened the girl of severe consequences should she choose to leave her.

Federal agents relayed explicit threats reportedly from Blum to the teenager. Agents quote Blum as having told the girl, ‘Leave me and see what happens,’ followed by a disturbing portrayal of violence suggesting she would harm the girl with a knife. Blum’s texts become increasingly bitter, accusing the girl of not battling to retain their relationship while insisting she would always ‘fight to keep’ the girl.

Further revelations from the authorities indicate that they were made aware of Blum’s travel plans to Atlanta the previous Sunday. Blum was reportedly going to join the girl after she had been discharged from the hospital. This situation led to Blum’s arrest on the federal charges of creating visual depictions involving the sexual exploitation of minors and continual involvement in said depictions.

In light of these events, the Miami-Dade Sheriff released an official statement regarding the arrest. Expressing profound disturbance, she iterated that these allegations not only consist of criminal charges but also represent a severe breach of the public’s trust as well as contravention of the sworn law enforcement oath.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff, such actions stand as a betrayal to the badge and the public’s trust. She stressed that the oath pledged by all law enforcement officers is sacred, and that alleged actions of this nature grossly undermine it.

Assuring full cooperation, the Miami-Dade Sheriff confirmed her office’s support towards federal investigators throughout this case. She emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in handling this matter, regardless of who is implicated.

In her statement, the Sheriff underscored that accountability holds paramount importance regardless of the rank or position of the individual involved. She further stated that she remains unwavering in the commitment to unmask the truth throughout this investigation, asserting that justice must prevail.
