Three illegal immigrants have been charged with the violent murder of a man during a home invasion in Woodland Hills, California—an incident that has reignited outrage over the deadly consequences of open-border policies and sanctuary city protections.
The suspects—Paata Kochyashvili, 38; Zaza Otarashvili, 46; and Besiki Khutsishvili, 52—are all nationals of the Republic of Georgia who were living in the United States illegally. According to law enforcement, the trio broke into a private residence where they savagely attacked and killed 47-year-old Aleksandre Modebadze. The victim was found with severe head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
The Los Angeles Police Department quickly apprehended the suspects, and each now faces murder charges, with bail set at $2 million. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged immigration detainers on all three men, but due to Los Angeles’ sanctuary policies, the likelihood of full cooperation remains uncertain.
This horrifying case is yet another example of how sanctuary policies shield criminal aliens from justice and put law-abiding Americans at risk. In cities like Los Angeles, local authorities are prohibited from honoring ICE detainers, meaning that even after committing serious crimes, illegal immigrants often slip through the cracks and re-enter communities unimpeded.
“These men had no legal right to be in our country,” one law enforcement official stated. “Yet because of broken policies and political obstruction, they were able to live freely—until their actions ended in tragedy.”
The attack has sparked renewed calls for stronger border enforcement, mandatory cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities, and the dismantling of sanctuary policies that block ICE from doing its job.
Critics argue that the left’s obsession with so-called “immigrant protections” has created a system where the rights of illegal aliens are prioritized over the safety of American citizens. In this case, that imbalance led to the brutal and unnecessary death of a man in his own home.
This isn’t just a case of criminal behavior—it’s a direct consequence of failed leadership and an immigration system that continues to favor lawlessness over justice.
