Jimmy Neutron Star Jeff Garcia Dead at 50

Jeff Garcia, the fast-talking comedian and voice actor best known for bringing Sheen Estevez to life in the Jimmy Neutron universe, has died at 50. Family members confirmed that Garcia passed early Wednesday morning after being taken off life support at a Southern California hospital. Loved ones were by his side.

Garcia had been battling a series of severe medical issues throughout the year. He suffered a brain aneurysm in the spring that led to a fall and head injury. Although he initially recovered, the setback was followed by a stroke several weeks ago. Those close to him say Garcia canceled multiple comedy shows recently, something completely out of character, but he avoided going to the hospital because he believed he would bounce back on his own.

He was hospitalized around November 20 with pneumonia, recovered enough to return home, but his condition declined again in the weeks that followed. On Monday, he went to the hospital with breathing problems, and by Tuesday, his lung collapsed, leading to the devastating outcome.

While many may not immediately recognize his name, Garcia’s voice is unmistakable for an entire generation of 2000s kids. He became a breakout star as Sheen in Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius and later in the hit Nickelodeon series The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. His character’s popularity even earned him his own spinoff, Planet Sheen, which ran for 26 episodes beginning in 2010.

Garcia’s voice acting résumé expanded far beyond Jimmy Neutron. He appeared in Barnyard and Back at the Barnyard, voiced roles in both Happy Feet films, worked on Marmaduke, both Rio movies, and joined the cast of the sitcom Mr. Box Office. His energetic delivery and comedic timing helped shape some of the era’s most memorable animated characters.

Laugh Factory owner Jamie Masada paid tribute to Garcia, calling him a rare talent with a big heart who worked tirelessly to uplift young Latino comedians. He made it clear that Jeff Garcia deserves to be remembered for the joy, inspiration, and opportunity he brought to others. The club honored him by displaying his name on its iconic Hollywood marquee shortly after news of his passing broke.

Jeff Garcia leaves behind a legacy of laughter, beloved characters, and a career that touched millions.
