Manhunt Underway for Suspect in Dual Assaults in Manhattan

Law enforcement officers in New York are currently pursuing a potential assailant who is suspected of assaulting two young women in quick succession in lower Manhattan, according to an announcement made on Saturday. The individual appears to be tall and has been seen on surveillance footage with a backpack and a paper bag held in the bend of his arm.

The individual launched his first attack on a woman aged 25 in the early hours of May 17th near the SoHo and Greenwich Village boundary, as reported by the police. The video footage captured by the cameras shows the man standing at the intersection of West Houston and MacDougal Streets with his mobile phone in his hand, displaying a map.

He initially sought guidance from the woman, and engaged her by asking for directions on his phone map. Shortly afterwards, he violated her by making unwelcome physical contact with her chest and waist area. He fled the scene shortly after the unsolicited contact.

The following day, around 1:50 in the morning, the same man reappeared on West Houston Street, this time in proximity of Thompson Street. This is when he engaged his second victim, a 26-year-old woman, whom he pulled to the ground against her will.

After he forcefully grounded the woman, he proceeded to assault her over her clothing before making a rapid departure from the scene. Both incidents resulted in minor injuries for the victims, as confirmed by police reports. At the current time, no arrests have been noted relating to this case.

In the ongoing search, law enforcement officers collected video footage featuring the suspect. As per the video, the man was observed donning eyeglasses, teamed with a black outerwear jacket, coordinating black denim jeans, and a pair of white athletic shoes.
