Media Bias Exposed: CBS Snubs Important Details from Noem’s Speech

On a recent Thursday, August 28, 2025, the U.S Homeland Security Secretary, Kristi Noem, conducted a virtual meeting for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Review Council from the DHS Headquarters stationed in the capital, Washington D.C. Amid such solemn responsibilities, she found herself forced to contend with certain unscrupulous media manipulations marring the truth.

CBS News, a mainstream media organization, found themselves in Secretary Noem’s line of fire for deliberately omitting significant portions of her statements. Noem lambasted the organization for its deceptive editing of her candid discussion about a dangerous criminal, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an MS-13 gang member engaged in despicable activities involving wife-beating and child exploitation.

Noem spoke unreservedly about the administration’s tireless efforts under President Donald Trump to bolster the security of ordinary Americans. The agenda, which was committed to expatriating criminal aliens like Garcia, was summarily truncated in the CBS News broadcast. The organization decided to air only a fractional part of Noem’s address on Garcia’s crimes.

The segment allowed by CBS portrayed Noem reiterating the administration’s uncompromising stance towards ensuring criminals like Garcia do not roam free on American soil. However, a significant portion of Noem’s comments, highlighting Garcia’s horrifying wrongdoings, was conveniently left unaired by the news organization.

In her excluded comments, Secretary Noem elucidated on Garcia’s revolting criminal history. He was an affirmed human trafficker and a member of the brutal MS-13 gang. Additionally, he committed domestic violence and displayed a perverse inclination towards soliciting indecent images from minors. Garcia’s actions were so aberrant that even his fellow human traffickers felt compelled to call him out.

Noem continued the censored part of her address, which emphasized the urgency of keeping Garcia out of the United States due to his atrocious activities. She described Garcia as twisted in his ways, especially in the nature of his treatment towards minors. Secretary Noem reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to ensuring justice, promising that such individuals will never find refuge on American soil.

This is not the first occasion CBS News has been accused of deceptive editing in its coverage. Another notable incident involved a controversial segment aired during the network’s ’60 Minutes’ interview with Kamala Harris in the buzz of the 2024 White House race. Notably, Trump also voiced out against CBS News, highlighting his objections

President Trump did not pull any punches in his critique of the ’60 Minutes’ interview, explicitly characterizing it as an incident of ‘election interference.’ He condemned CBS News for airing the segment deep into early voting and just before Election Day. According to President Trump, CBS News manipulated Harris’s responses to paint a somewhat comprehensible picture of her, which he believed was far from the truth.

Trump went on record, alleging that Harris’s responses throughout the CBS interview were unlawfully tampered with by CBS News. He asserted that the network’s meddling was a desperate attempt to give the false impression of Harris’s coherence. According to Trump, it was a poorly stitched patchwork effort to make Harris seem competent.

There were financial repercussions for CBS and its parent company Paramount, who, according to Trump, paid an initial settlement of $16 million likely due to legal pushback from such reporting scandals. Moreover, Trump stated that an additional settlement amount of $20 million was in the pipeline, marking a very costly affair for the network.

CBS News also faced criticism from another prominent figure, NFL coach Bill Belichick. Belichick, who currently manages the North Carolina Tar Heels, publicly expressed his displeasure about a ‘CBS Sunday Morning’ interview featuring his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson.

Belichick took issue with CBS’s editing of Hudson’s response to a question about their relationship. According to him, CBS had selectively edited the interview to foster a false narrative that Hudson was trying to dominate the conversation.

In response to the accusatory volley, CBS News produced a blanket reassurance that there were no manipulations or limitations placed on the conversation. However, the string of allegations and criticisms against CBS News, including that from Secretary Noem, continues to raise questions about its credibility.
