Mingus Reedus in Legal Trouble: Assault Charges Surface
Norman Reedus and Helena Christensen’s son, Mingus Reedus, has found himself in hot water following recent assault charges. The implications of this event reportedly revolve around an unnamed female, aged 33, in an episode that transpired in New York City on the date of Saturday, Aug. 23. Intriguingly, this isn’t Mingus’ maiden tryst with controversy; he had a previous legal encounter back in September 2021, where charges of alleged violence against a woman aged 24 came forth.
The legal burdens weighing on the 25-year-old model heightened when he was apprehended in the vicinity of 16th Street and 8th Avenue, New York City. This incident took place approximately at 8:40 a.m. local time on Saturday, Aug. 23, as confirmed by the New York City Police Department (NYPD). As the consequences of his actions begin to congeal, he has been legally implicated with criminal accusations of obstructing breathing and assault per the NYPD’s charge sheet.
When law enforcement personnel landed at the site of the reported disturbance, observations noted a 33-year-old female sustaining minor injuries, specifically to her neck and leg regions. Mingus was promptly taken into police control and currently remains under close surveillance and meticulous inquiry, as per NYPD’s official communication.
Mingus, however, has a history with legal tangles that predates the recent episode. Back in September 2021, he was arrested on charges of allegedly assaulting a 24-year-old woman. This incident occurred during the San Gennaro festival celebrated in the vibrant city of New York.
At the time, the identity of the woman on the receiving end of the alleged punch was kept under wraps, but her story recounts a heated verbal altercation with Mingus, which ultimately escalated to physical harm. Post this confrontation, Mingus claimed to The New York Daily News that he and his friends were the ones targeted by the woman and her troop at the festival.
Influenced by the overall circumstance and negotiation, Mingus took a plea bargain in March 2022. This plea deal led to a downgraded charge—from assault to disorderly conduct. The reduced charge could potentially be representative of how the scales of justice might eventually tip in his favor.
Mingus’ legal representative, Isabelle Kirshner, had previously offered a staunch defense toward the 2021 charges. She referred to them as groundless accusations and portrayed Mingus as the true victim. In her view, Mingus had borne the brunt of the incident rather than instigated it.
Mingus’ lineage traces back to Hollywood actor Norman Reedus and noted supermodel Helena Christensen, who welcomed their son into the world in 1999. Norman, now 56, and Helena, also 56, both have a well-established presence in the world of glamour and fame.
In 1998, a common friend introduced Norman and Helena, sparking a relationship that lasted for five years. Although they decided to part ways in 2003, they co-parent their son Mingus, sharing in his joys, triumphs, and, inevitably, in the challenging turns his life has taken.
