Rob Reiner and Wife Found Dead at Los Angeles Home, Authorities Investigating
Hollywood was rocked Sunday after legendary filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife Michele were reportedly found dead inside their Brentwood home in Los Angeles. Authorities say both were discovered with stab wounds, and the LAPD’s elite Robbery-Homicide Division is now leading the investigation.
First responders with the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the home around 3:30 p.m. and found the bodies of a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman — the same ages as Reiner and his wife. While the LAPD has not formally released the names of the deceased, sources confirmed it was the longtime couple, who had been married since 1989.
Detectives cordoned off the upscale property, located in a gated, hedge-lined Brentwood neighborhood, and could be seen moving in and out of the home throughout the evening. A knife is believed to have been used in the attack, though police have not confirmed whether a suspect is in custody.
The house was reportedly decorated for the holidays, adding to the shock and heartbreak surrounding the scene. Reiner, known for directing classics like The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Spinal Tap, and A Few Good Men, had also starred as “Meathead” on All in the Family, winning two Emmys.
Reiner was the father of two sons, including Nick Reiner, who has previously opened up about struggles with addiction and homelessness. No public statements have been made by the family.
The LAPD has not ruled out foul play, and the cause of the attack remains under investigation. The motive is currently unclear.
This is a developing story. Further details are expected in the coming hours.
