The Tumbling Legacy of Biden and Harris: Mediocrity at Its Best
One can’t help but almost feel a sense of pity toward the two most recognized Democrats in America: Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Despite their attempts to claw their way back into relevance, the sentiment can best be described as apathy. Biden recently resurfaced for a BBC interview, followed by a public appearance on ‘The View’ with his wife, Jill. His attempts to criticize former President Donald Trump were uninspired at best, little more than labeling his predecessor with an assortment of negative descriptors.
Harris, on the other hand, made an unexpected appearance at the Met Gala and later stopped by a posh bar in New York City. Just a week earlier, she had delivered a speech where she tried to rally Democrats by referencing a popular elephant video. The reception from both left and center was nothing more than a collective sigh of indifference, while the right indulged in a few restrained chuckles.
Truthfully, both Biden and Harris are simply relics of a bygone era, their credibility tarnished through their own numerous actions. Their foreign policies were inconsequential at best, contributing to global instability. They erased borders, offering an open invitation for an influx of undocumented immigrants. They also engaged in a reckless federal spending spree that left average Americans grappling with relentless inflation.
Biden could hardly clear a path for Harris, leaving her unable to execute her campaign fully. Speaking of his decision, Biden claimed, ‘We left at a time when we had a good candidate.’ But facets of self-criticism and consciousness of how issues such as criminal migrants and rising food costs burden the average voter were noticeably absent from this debate.
Their lack of perception concerning the disillusionment of former blue voters who were driven into Trump’s fold is truly astonishing. They also seem to lack awareness that their policies were broadly rejected by Americans.
In a concerning turn of events, Biden and Harris’s woeful attempt at a return only highlights an even more significant issue within the Democratic party. Succinctly put, they just don’t have anyone better suited for leadership, nor does anyone appear willing to denounce the systematic failures of the Biden-Harris tactics.
Even though AOC generates some chatter within leftist circles, her socialist inclinations are hardly popular with most Americans. Gavin Newsom may possess aesthetic appeal, but his lack of substance cannot be overlooked.
Adding to this unfortunate scenario, the emerging realization is that Biden and Harris were arguably the best choices the Democrats could manage. Seemingly, mediocrity was the pinnacle of their candidate selection – a truly disheartening declaration of the state of the party.
