Trump Announces G20 Summit at Doral Golf Club for 2026

In a latest announcement, U.S President Donald Trump has revealed plans to invite all G20 world leaders for a summit in the year 2026. This grand event will be hosted at his own golf club, Trump National Doral Miami, positioned near Miami. The President had notably chosen not to attend the current year’s summit held in South Africa.

“In my opinion, Doral is the prime choice as a venue,” stated Trump during an event inside the Oval Office. He used this platform to declare the chosen location for the upcoming summit. The reputable attendees of the G20 include a group of 19 countries, the European Union, alongside the African Union, and the responsibility of hosting this finance-oriented gathering is alternated among the members.

Although the selection of the location is decided, a precise date for the major event is yet to be confirmed. The Trump National Doral Miami chosen by Trump himself will be utilized for an important affair financed by American taxpayers. The occasion, foreseen to create millions in revenues from hotel and restaurant services, raises potential inquiries about the President’s personal financial gains from his active role in public office.

Despite these concerns, the White House continues to vehemently deny any conflict of interest. An earlier instance, when a similar situation arose during Trump’s first term, saw the President reconsider a proposition for the G7 summit of 2020 at the same Doral location. The proposition sparked a controversy among certain lawmakers, ethics commentators, and even some members within his party, viewing it as a possible breach of the US Constitution.

Ever since Trump assumed office earlier this year, he seems to have dismissed any ethical qualms regarding the overlap between his personal businesses and influential decisions related to state policies. This controversy has managed to overlook the grandeur of the Doral estate that extends beyond its expansive golf courses.

The extensive property features a golf clubhouse, a swimming pool, multiple dining outlets, an indulgent spa, and an impressive 100,000 square feet of space dedicated for special events. This enormous area includes the majestic Donald J. Trump Grand Ballroom among other amenities.

Ahead of the President stepping into his current role, the State Department put forth a request for bids to all American cities willing to host the G20 summit in a previous announcement made in January. Their estimations suggested that the meetings would likely be scheduled sometime between the early and middle parts of October, 2026.

Until now, the details on the specifics of the cities that expressed interest in hosting the summit remain undisclosed. It remains uncertain whether Doral or its neighboring city Miami had been among those to submit their offers.

Earlier in July, Trump hinted at possible non-participation in this year’s G20 summit set for November. The source of his probable absence is the disagreements with the hosting nation, South Africa, specifically regarding their land and Israel policies.

The G20 cohort includes impactful nations such as China and Russia, subtly reminding of the potential friction at the summit. The latter’s President Vladimir Putin is under an imposed arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court on charges of war crimes.

These revelations came to light on September 6, 2025. As the world’s economic powerhouses gear up for the impending G20 summit, the spotlight remains shone on how the event could potentially alter the global economic and political landscapes.
