Trump Stumps ‘Comrade Kamala’ in Shocking Election Win
Over time, President Donald Trump has consistently attributed his political and legal challenges to ‘communists.’ Currently, in his second term, this rhetoric is being constantly used to paint opponents, ranging from jurists to educators, as dangers to the American ethos, culture, and core values. Last year, Trump elaborated on his tactic when he shed light on his plans to overthrow his Democratic challenger, then-Vice President Kamala Harris, in the Presidential election. Surprisingly, his labelling stratagem, referring to her as ‘comrade Kamala’, proved effective, leading to his victory in November. Garnering the support of more than 77 million Americans, who represented 49.9% of the voters, Trump has imported this tactic into his second term.
In 2025, considerable influence fell on communist countries like China, Vietnam, North Korea, and Cuba. However, this wasn’t the case for the United States. Ironically, though valid communism may not prevail in America, the term’s emotional weight as a rhetorical device continues to dominate. Unfortunately, when queries arose regarding Trump’s specific definition of a ‘communist,’ the White House remained mum. This was noticeable amidst Trump’s Michigan address, which came on the heels of unfavorable economic and political news.
Earlier in the week, The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs released a poll indicating a growing dissatisfaction with Trump’s priorities among Americans. In fact, it revealed a concerning ambivalence among Republicans about his primary focus areas. Post Trump’s address, reports emerged about the contracting economy in the first quarter of 2025 as a direct consequence of Trump’s tarif imposition disrupting business endeavors.
Adding fuel to the fire, Trump’s senior aide, Stephen Miller, took to the White House stage and repeated the loaded term ‘communist’ four times within a span of approximately 35 minutes. He was chiefly criticizing prior policies related to transgender, diversity, and immigration matters. Despite these ill-timed incidents, Trump still managed to edge past Democrat competitors among voters aged 45 and above in the elections of 2020 and 2024.
The notion that communists might infiltrate or annihilate the United States exerted a tremendous influence on the country and its populace for many years. This fear led to some of the darkest episodes in American history. For instance, Senator McCarthy, who succumbed in disgrace in 1957, was infamous for his anti-communist hearings. Coincidentally, McCarthy’s primary attorney during these hearings, Roy Cohn, played a significant role in Trump’s life as his adviser and troubleshooter throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
The Cold War had been a constant backdrop for more than thirty years. The threat of a nuclear confrontation was prevalent. This era saw the initiation of the dissolution of communism, beginning in 1989 and resulting in the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991. Today, Russia under President Vladimir Putin is the primary focus.
By the end of the week, Trump finally admitted to the potential repercussions of his administration’s actions. According to Robertson, the essential contemporary discource shouldn’t dwell on capitalism versus communism. Instead, the crux of the discussion should revolve around the necessity and timing of governmental intervention. Additionally, according to his deduction, Trump’s rhetoric isn’t genuinely debating communism and capitalism.
