Unspoken Truths: ‘The View’ Conveniently Ignores Kimmel Suspension

The anchor team of ‘The View’, a show broadcasted on ABC network, refrained from addressing the suspension debacle of their network mate, Jimmy Kimmel this past Friday. Albeit it happened two days prior, not a single whisper was heard about the cephalus host being sidelined indefinitely. As a convenient excuse, the Friday episodes of ‘The View’ are usually recorded a day in advance, providing ample cover for the silent treatment. Further not helping Kimmel’s cause is that Whoopi Goldberg, the usual moderator, was off-duty that day.

This would not be a cause of concern if only their silence extended to things that actually oppose their narrative. Still, instead, they chose to delve into political discussions for some unusual reason. The intricacies of Kamala Harris’ latest book became the center of their conversations.

Kamala Harris, ex-vice president, has managed to churn out a new book. In a paradoxical twist, the book that is sure to be filled with questionable claims and self-praise ended up feeding the talk of the hosts of ‘The View’. However, their agenda failed to recognize the indefinite suspension of their fellow host, Jimmy Kimmel.

Among the hosts, Joy Behar was on another mission. On the eventful Friday, she decided to bring back her infamous ‘Comedy Corner’. An apt occasion to celebrate humor, given how the rest of the show is more comedic in nature due to the skewed narratives.

Joy ignited her segment with an intriguing outlook, ‘I don’t know about you, but I’ve never needed a laugh more than I have in these last few months.’ Well, with the characters she supports in politics, it is no wonder that a hearty laugh has become a necessity to deal with the reality.

The hilarity of the ‘Comedy Corner’ was to feature Andy Huggins, a comedian with more than four decades of experience. The septuagenarian was welcomed to the show for his performance, all while the silence on Jimmy Kimmel was maintained.

When it came to Kimmel’s predicament, he was taken off-air due to some controversial comments he had made after Charlie Kirk’s passing. He referred to the so-called ‘MAGA gang’ and grappled to disassociate the convicted killer of Charlie Kirk from a group he apparently thought was the embodiment of negativity.

Kimmel, caught up in his unique delusion, stated that the MAGA supporters were ‘desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.’ It seems more like a desperate attempt on his part to score cheap political points from the situation.

Kimmel’s ill-conceived attempt to pin the blame on a particular group remained unhindered by the fact Charlie Kirk had a long history of what many would liberally label as ‘hate speech’. Before his unanticipated demise, Kirk himself denied the existence of such ‘hate speech’, enhancing the irony of Kimmel’s misplaced tirade.

Kirk, a known harsh critic of marginalized communities, had expressed his own beliefs about speech in a social media post back in 2024. Featuring his unique and controversial perspectives, Kirk claimed there were several types of speeches such as ‘ugly’, ‘gross’, and ‘evil’, but remarkably, they all had a common entity – the protection of the First Amendment.

In Kirk’s eyes, ‘There’s ugly speech. There’s gross speech. There’s evil speech. And ALL of it is protected by the First Amendment.’ It may seem absurd to some, but it demonstrates the liberty he took with his words. These words that he himself protected and preached so fondly became a cause for an uproar and heated debates due to Kimmel’s unnecessary commentary.

Kimmel’s suspension remained a no-discussion zone on ‘The View’, despite the hosts engaging in political discussions, comedy bits, and everything under the spectrum. In reality, the political stances they assert generally give more reasons to laugh than the comedian they feature.

The intentional silence from ‘The View’ hosts towards the Kimmel suspension incident is questionable at best. While voters may find their representation in different political groups, the attempt to dissociate the actions of a single individual from a larger group, as made by Kimmel, seems to exhibit a certain level of intellectual dishonesty.

It’s highly ironic that such a politically charged show chose to ignore one of their own’s political blunders. Perhaps it’s because Kimmel shared their political inclinations or their silence just happened to align with the day’s recording schedule. The reason remains a mystery, but the incident provides a glimpse into a trend of biased reporting.

The hosts of ‘The View’ may believe they cater to their audience preferences by cherry-picking discussions, but in reality, they only manage to conjure an illusion of humor veiling their political bent. With their chosen talks often running on personal political agendas rather than facts, it makes one wonder if truth and full disclosure of events are priorities anymore.

All things considered, ‘The View’ and its hosts seem to conveniently ignore inconvenient truths that contradict with their narratives. While political discourse is important, presenting only one side of the story does a disservice to the viewers. The ignorance they showed towards the Kimmel incident only further spotlights the biases that run rampant in mainstream media today.
