WWE Steps Into UFC’s Path to Boost Ticket Revenue

The business strategy of WWE appears to be embracing a path similar to the UFC’s in regards to ticket revenue, and it’s proving to be a fruitful endeavor. As per an executive from TKO, it does not seem like the prices of WWE tickets are due for decline anytime soon. During a recent summit, the COO of TKO shared his insights into the subject. His revelations involved the comparison between ticket yield of WWE and UFC, stating that the WWE is yet to catch up with UFC’s ticket yield.

The ‘ticket yield’, also referred to commonly as ‘yield management’, encompasses a flexible pricing strategy. Such tactics are maneuvered by various corporations intending to maximize their profits, notable among them are the live event industry and aviation sector. In connection to WWE, he expressed that there’s more work to do to fully optimize their ticket yield.

To shed more light on the matter, he explained that Vince McMahon, until recently, set ticket prices keeping family audience in mind. However, the strategy of TKO has been evolving towards adopting the UFC’s business model. The new approach has already started showing promising results in WWE, inclusive of their product offerings.

With regard to WWE, Vince McMahon did not prioritize the maximization of profit opportunities through events. However, after observing the successes within the UFC business model, principles are being adopted that pertain to effective management of ticket yield. The implementation of this model in WWE has demonstrated its effectiveness.

Historically, it was revealed that WWE had an immense potential regarding the augmentation of ticket prices and the decrease in the frequency of shows annually. There was a debate recently about the ascending price of WWE tickets. This discussion was prompted by the reaction of a WWE fan.

The fan shared their perspective, describing the recent WWE ticket prices to be ‘somewhat bewildering’. The initial inference from the fan’s assertion led to the assumption that the tickets were relatively economical. However, the fan provided clarity to the statement afterwards, specifying that the ticket prices were excessively high.
