A judgment has been executed by Stacey Hydrick, a Superior Court Judge in DeKalb County, Georgia, sentencing a 62-year-old individual to a two-decade-long incarceration following his guilty plea in an attack and robbery case involving a nonagenarian military veteran. This felony occurred in the seventh month of 2022.
The person culpable, named Samuel Harvey, acknowledged his guilt associated with accusations of mistreating an older individual, conducting a robbery forcibly, and creating hurdles for law enforcement personnel. This acknowledgement is correlated with the striking incident that occurred.
In response to a call reporting a theft, police officers from DeKalb County were dispatched to a local CVS Pharmacy stationed on Candler Road’s 2400 block. It was on July 25th of 2022 when the law enforcement representatives answered the aforemenioned call.
The police received a narrative from a CVS store’s employee that the victim, an individual named Arthur Johnson, made his entry into the store, occupying a seat there for an unspecified duration before making his way back to his vehicle situated in the parking area.
The victim, Mr. Johnson, conveyed to authorities that after returning to his car, he inadvertently drifted off to sleep. Upon regaining consciousness, he found himself in the midst of a horrifying scenario where he was being subjected to a choking assault.
The incident soon became more public when one of the CVS staff members exited the store premises and noticed Harvey engaging in an act of physical abuse towards Johnson. What unfolded next was undoubtedly a shocking sight for the unsuspecting employee.
When confronted by the CVS staff member about his unfathomable actions, Harvey reacted quickly and with surprising aggression. Possessing Johnson’s belongings – his cellular phone, wallet, and car keys, Harvey discarded the elderly man onto the ground in a heartless manner and took to his heels.
The criminal accusations against the offender, Harvey, have resulted in a subsequent sentence of twenty years. The specific conditions of this duration involved fifteen years that are to be spent in a correctional facility, while the balance of five years will be completed on a probationary basis.
