Biden’s Delusional Recap of 2024 Failed Bid
Ex-President Joe Biden seemed inexplicably content during his 11th appearance on ABC daytime show The View, his first live broadcast since vacating the White House. Strangely enough, he was indeed in a cheerful mood while recalling his evident failure in the 2024 presidential election and his rather hasty abandonment of the presidential race in July. This, after being bested by then-Republican candidate Donald Trump in a late June debate that led to compounding calls for his retreat.
In a baffling development, Biden endorsed Kamala Harris, the then Vice President, as the Democratic candidate, who in fact managed to secure the nomination only to face defeat in the actual election. Trump took victory across all seven swing states. Some might wonder if Kamala’s failure was in fact tied to Biden’s endorsement.
Biden’s surprise, or lack thereof, at the election outcome displayed his dismissive view of his own party’s chances. Not once did he acknowledge that his and Harris’ political stance could have contributed to their downfall. Instead, he rested the blame on misogyny and alleged negative campaigning by President Trump’s team, displaying an inability to accept his party’s failure.
Despite their loss, Biden maintained an uncomfortably close relationship with Harris, voicing how they would consult each other frequently. Even stranger, Harris is reportedly considering a run for California governor while also entertaining the idea of being a potential 2028 presidential candidate. The juggle between state and national politics leaves one to wonder about her actual intentions and goals.
Biden, in a move resembling hubris, insisted that he could have defeated Trump. Though Trump emerged victorious, Biden stressed that the former president received fewer votes than the 80 million individuals who had supported Biden in the previous 2020 elections. The desperate comparison of vote totals appeared more like a denial of his party’s waning influence.
When cornered about his late withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, Biden brushed off the implication that his delayed exit obstructed Harris’ campaign. Instead, he took the opportunity to bolster his administration’s past successes, stating that Harris was a part of all of it. However, his failed presidential bid and the weak legislative progress remained elephant in the room.
Biden then went on to defend his recurrent mention by President Trump by stating with apparent arrogance, ‘because I beat him.’ His audacious remarks, however, did not mask the fact that Trump had successfully won reelection under his nose.
Towards the second half of the program, Dr. Jill Biden joined her husband on the stage. The couple then addressed allegations of Biden’s cognitive decline during his time in the White House. Their responses, though, did little to alleviate the growing public concern about his mental fitness during his presidency.
Biden may have taken a retrospective view of his decision to drop out of the race, but his reasons seemed vague at best. While he stated that he stepped aside to avoid a divided Democratic party, it looked more like an evasive move to avoid damaging his own reputation further after underwhelming performance.
He asserted that putting country before personal interests was the driving factor behind his retreat from the race. Yet considering his muddled stance and dwindling support, it seemed more like a desperate attempt to save face rather than a genuine act of selflessness.
Reflecting on his last six months, Biden declared, ‘I did a pretty good job.’ His complacency in face of evident shortcomings painted a clear picture of his disconnect with reality and refusal to recognize the eroding confidence in his administration.
Lastly, Jill Biden denied the ‘cocoon’ claim, arguing that the public had seen her husband actively engaged during his time in the Oval Office. However, her declaration did little to quell rumors of his isolation and potential cognitive decline during his tenure.
In conclusion, Biden’s appearance on The View came off more as a desperate attempt to salvage his tarnished image rather than a candid conversation about his failed presidential bid. His denial and rejection of shortcomings only served to underscore his party’s missteps and disconnect with the popular vote.
