Trump Issues Disaster Declaration As Texas Reels Amid Devastating Floods: ‘GOD BLESS TEXAS’

President Donald Trump formally issued a major disaster declaration for Kerr County, Texas, on Sunday after catastrophic flash floods along the Guadalupe River claimed at least 69 lives, including more than a dozen children.

The president made the announcement on Truth Social, vowing swift federal support for local and state responders facing one of the deadliest flooding events in recent Texas history.

“I just signed a Major Disaster Declaration for Kerr County, Texas, to ensure that our Brave First Responders immediately have the resources they need,” Trump wrote. “These families are enduring an unimaginable tragedy, with many lives lost, and many still missing. The Trump Administration continues to work closely with State and Local Leaders.”

Trump praised the work of Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who was already on the ground coordinating relief efforts.

“Our incredible U.S. Coast Guard, together with State First Responders, have saved more than 850 lives,” Trump added. “GOD BLESS THE FAMILIES, AND GOD BLESS TEXAS!”

The federal declaration unlocks critical funding and emergency resources for affected areas. In a letter to Governor Abbott, Trump outlined the aid being deployed and added a personal handwritten note: “Our wonderful Sec. Kristy Noem is available at all times.”

Rescue and recovery efforts continue around Camp Mystic, where 11 young campers and one counselor remain unaccounted for after the Guadalupe River surged more than 20 feet in just 45 minutes. Flash flood warnings were also extended on Sunday for parts of Tarrant and Johnson Counties, far downstream from the original disaster zone.

With the national spotlight on Texas, the Trump administration has mobilized quickly—delivering federal support and honoring the sacrifice of first responders in a time of crisis.
