Snoop Dogg Blasts LGBTQ+ Representation in Kids’ Films: “They’re Putting It Everywhere”
Rapper Snoop Dogg stirred controversy during a recent podcast appearance after expressing frustration over the growing inclusion of LGBTQ+ themes in children’s movies.
Speaking on the August 20 episode of the “It’s Giving” podcast, Snoop shared a personal moment involving his grandson and the 2022 Disney film Lightyear, which features a same-sex couple.
“I took my grandson to see Lightyear, and out of nowhere they’re like, ‘She had a baby—with another woman.’ My grandson turns to me in the middle of the movie like, ‘Papa Snoop? How does a woman have a baby with another woman?’ I was like, ‘Oh sh-t, I didn’t come in for this sh-t. I just came to watch the goddamn movie,’” Snoop said.
He admitted feeling blindsided by the content, adding, “I’m scared to go to the movies now. Y’all throwing me in the middle of sh-t that I don’t have an answer for.”

“This Ain’t For Kids”
Snoop questioned the need to expose young children to such complex themes, saying, “These are kids. We have to show that at this age? They’re going to ask questions, and I don’t have the answer.”
The rapper didn’t stop there. He pivoted to a broader critique of media portrayals of masculinity—particularly Black masculinity.
“Masculinity is being taken out of men,” he said. “I watch commercials, movies, TV shows—everywhere you look, the strong Black man is being watered down. I get it, you want to show different sides of the Black man, but when you push everything else to the front and erase the traditional masculine figure, what are we left with?”
He concluded by highlighting his own legacy: “I got ten grandbabies because I’m the man. You can’t build generations without this.”
