Cheers Erupt for Trump at Yankee Stadium on 9/11 Anniversary

President Donald Trump received thunderous cheers at Yankee Stadium on Thursday night as fans honored him on the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Before the game, the Yankees paused to recognize the somber anniversary and welcomed “back to Yankee Stadium the 45th and 47th president of the United States.” The crowd erupted as Trump, a native New Yorker, was shown on the Jumbotron.

At several points throughout the night, chants of “Donald Trump! Donald Trump!” echoed through the stands as the president waved from a suite. During the National Anthem, Trump appeared again on the stadium screen, drawing loud applause from the more than 41,000 fans in attendance.

“The fans were really nice,” Trump said the next morning on Fox & Friends. “You never know what you’re going to get in New York, but we got a tremendous applause because they love this country.”

The Yankees also paid tribute to 9/11, displaying the American flag alongside the message: “September 11, 2001, We Shall Not Forget.” On Wednesday, the team observed a moment of silence in memory of conservative leader Charlie Kirk, assassinated just one day earlier.

Security at the stadium was significantly heightened for Trump’s visit. Fans were urged to arrive early and avoid bringing bags, and Trump watched the game from the Yankees owner’s suite behind three panes of bulletproof glass.

The president visited the Yankees clubhouse before the game, offering words of encouragement. “You’re gonna win,” Trump told the team, according to the New York Post. His prediction proved correct — led by Aaron Judge’s two towering home runs, the Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers 9-3.

Judge later called meeting Trump “a surreal moment.” He credited the president for energizing the team: “He came in here, and he told us we were going to win, so I think that gave everybody the confidence in this room to go out there and do it. I guess we’ve got to have him around more often.”

After the game, Trump posed for photos with the Yankees, marking a memorable night in the Bronx where patriotism and baseball came together under the bright lights.
