ICE Picks Up More ‘Heinous’ Criminals As Illegal Immigration Crackdown Continues
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested a number of criminal illegal aliens this week as the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown intensifies, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin confirmed the arrests in a statement to The Daily Wire, noting that ICE agents are operating under increasingly dangerous conditions. “Despite vile rhetoric and continued assaults on our ICE law enforcement officers, they continue to risk their lives every single day to arrest criminal illegal aliens convicted of child sex crimes, homicide, aggravated robbery, and other violent criminals,” she said. “Our brave law enforcement are heroes Americans can be proud of.”
According to DHS, ICE officers are now facing a staggering 1,000% increase in assaults as they carry out operations to remove criminal offenders from U.S. communities. But the agency insists it will not back down from its mission.
The latest arrests included a series of violent offenders:
-
Javier Perez-Garcia, 48, a Mexican national, was convicted of indecent sexual contact with a child in Hopkins County, Texas, and sentenced to eight years in prison.
-
Jose Nehemias Zavala-Mejia, from El Salvador, was convicted of aggravated robbery in Finney County, Kansas.
-
Carlos Vasquez-Castro, a Mexican national, was convicted of criminal possession of a weapon in Queens, New York.
-
Adan Guerrero-Gonzalez, 50, of Mexico, was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in Hardeeville, South Carolina, and sentenced to 15 years.
-
Mirna Mendez-Escamilla, a Mexican national, was convicted of theft in Ogden, Utah.
The arrests come just days after California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a new law banning ICE agents from wearing face coverings during arrests inside the state. The law was immediately condemned by DHS and federal law enforcement officials as a reckless move that puts officers in harm’s way.
“This new law is despicable,” McLaughlin said. “It’s a flagrant attempt to endanger federal officers who are already dealing with an explosion of violence directed at them.”
One ICE source told The Daily Wire that the law will have no legal effect on federal operations. “Nice try by Newsom, but he knows it doesn’t apply to federal agents,” the source said. “He loves stirring the pot so that people find more ways to bring conflict to ICE.”
The renewed enforcement push comes as President Trump doubles down on immigration control, emphasizing that violent criminals who entered the country illegally have no place in American neighborhoods.
