Trump Optimistic About End To Gaza War: ‘I Think We Have A Deal’
President Donald Trump told reporters Friday that negotiations to end the Gaza conflict appear to be approaching a breakthrough. Speaking outside the White House, Trump said he believes an agreement is close that would secure the release of hostages and bring the war to an end.
“It’s looking like we have a deal on Gaza,” Trump said. “I think it’s a deal that will get the hostages back. It’s going to be a deal that will end the war … It’s going to be peace.”
In a follow-up post on Truth Social, the president described days of intensive, region-wide discussions that he said involve many Middle Eastern countries and have kept Israel, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, fully informed. Trump added that Hamas is aware of the talks and signaled confidence that momentum is building toward a negotiated settlement.
“I am pleased to report that we are having very inspired and productive discussions with the Middle Eastern Community concerning Gaza,” he wrote. “Intense negotiations have been going on for four days, and will continue for as long as necessary in order to get a Successfully Completed Agreement.”
Trump framed the prospective deal as historically significant and insisted that any arrangement must secure the return of the remaining hostages taken during Hamas’s October 7, 2023, assault on Israel — an attack that killed more than 1,200 people and saw hundreds of hostages taken into Gaza. He described the current talks as the most hopeful he’s seen in decades and issued a sharp warning to Hamas that failing to accept the terms would carry consequences.
“Everyone wants the Hostages HOME. Everyone wants this War to end!” he wrote. “The Israelis have accepted my Terms. It is time for Hamas to accept as well. I have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting. This is my last warning, there will not be another one!”
White House officials and regional partners have not released details about the negotiating framework. Trump’s comments signal U.S. efforts to broker an outcome that both frees hostages and halts the intensive fighting that has devastated Gaza and reshaped regional diplomacy.
