Week 4 NFL: Spotlight on Bears and Raiders Key Players
Every NFL season evolves with time, and week 4 to be played out in Chicago confirms this fact. The Chicago Bears are venturing into this game besieged by injuries, with many central players from both defense and offensive teams included in the injury list. Despite the injuries, the performance of the offensive line showed clear enhancements in week 3. In this regular weekly feature, I spotlight one key player from each team and each side who significantly contributes to their team’s triumph. These players may not be in the limelight often, but their contributions are crucial to the team’s victories. Let’s kick off the series with the Chicago Bears.
For the offense in the Bears’ line-up, D’Andre Swift, the running back, stands as a key player. Despite a modest performance with 1 touchdown and a gain of 149 yards averaging at 3.5 yards which are not the numbers he would have liked, Swift is a critical player. It is essential for the Bears to stimulate Swift and the running game; otherwise, it could put an undue load on Caleb and his offensive team. Such a scenario could be challenging, especially considering the readiness of Maxx Crosby to pounce as a pass-rusher.
Jaquan Brisker, the safety, is the linchpin for the Bears’ defense. Brisker was the driving force behind the Bears defense in the preceding week, his vigor and aggression leading the team. However, if Brisker succumbs, it could turn into a long day in Las Vegas for the Bears.
Switching focus to the Las Vegas Raiders and their offensive lineup, Ashton Jeanty, the running back, is a crucial player. Despite being a popular choice and my personal favorite back in this class, Jeanty hasn’t met up to expectations characterized as a once-in-a-generation talent. The effectiveness of the Bears’ run defense against Jeanty could be a determining factor for the game: if they can improve their performance and contain the talents of the former Heisman finalist, the Bears might have a chance. Else, Jeanty could demonstrate why he received such high ratings.
Jeremy Chinn, the Raiders’ safety and linebacker, is one to watch out in their defense. Chinn, who recently bagged a 2-year contract worth over $16 million, infuses an aggressive nature and a versatile collection of skills to the team. The key concern this week is the Bears’ ability to tackle Maxx Crosby. Ensuring that Caleb and his team prevent any significant progress by the alum from Southern Illinois University would equip the Bears adequately in scoring points.
