Trump: Meeting Set To Axe ‘Democrat Agencies’

President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he will meet with Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought to discuss which “Democrat Agencies” should be cut amid the government shutdown.

“I have a meeting today with Russ Vought, he of PROJECT 2025 Fame, to determine which of the many Democrat Agencies, most of which are a political SCAM, he recommends to be cut, and whether or not those cuts will be temporary or permanent,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “I can’t believe the Radical Left Democrats gave me this unprecedented opportunity. They are not stupid people, so maybe this is their way of wanting to, quietly and quickly, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

The shutdown began Wednesday after Senate Democrats blocked a GOP-backed continuing resolution. Trump has since argued that the standoff creates a chance “to clear out dead wood, waste, and fraud. Billions of Dollars can be saved.”

Vought has already canceled or frozen billions in spending. On Tuesday, he announced the termination of nearly $8 billion in “Green New Scam” funding tied to climate projects in deep-blue states. The Department of Energy confirmed that 321 financial awards worth $7.65 billion had been cut, saying many were rushed through during Biden’s lame-duck months without proper vetting.

“President Trump promised to protect taxpayer dollars and expand America’s supply of affordable, reliable, and secure energy. Today’s cancellations deliver on that commitment,” said Energy Secretary Chris Wright.

Vought also froze $18 billion in New York infrastructure funding, escalating tensions with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who have led Democratic resistance to Trump’s budget plan.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Vought has been tasked with a sweeping review of the bureaucracy during the shutdown. “The Office of Management and Budget is looking over the receipts and the budget of the entire federal bureaucracy,” she said.
