Video Shows Katie Porter Berating Staffer During Biden Admin Meeting
A newly resurfaced video has reignited controversy around former Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA), who is widely viewed as a frontrunner in California’s upcoming gubernatorial race. The footage, obtained by Politico, shows Porter aggressively cursing at a staffer during a taped meeting with Biden’s then-Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm in July 2021.
“Get out of my f*ing shot!**” Porter is heard shouting after the staffer interjects to correct her on a policy detail. Porter then adds, “Okay. You also were in my shot before that. Stay out of my shot.”

The exchange, caught on video during a formal policy meeting, has drawn renewed attention to longstanding allegations that Porter created a hostile work environment during her time in Congress. It also comes just days after another clip went viral of Porter threatening to walk out of a television interview with a local CBS affiliate.
“I don’t want to have an unhappy experience with you, and I don’t want this all on camera,” she told the reporter in that clip, also shared by Politico.
In response to the latest video, Porter issued a brief statement defending her behavior.
“It’s no secret I hold myself and my staff to a high standard, and that was especially true as a member of Congress,” she said. “I have sought to be more intentional in showing gratitude to my staff for their important work.”
Politico noted that the staffer seen in the clip was not named due to privacy concerns.
The outlet also pointed out that Porter has faced multiple accusations over the years of being a “difficult boss,” as well as being involved in unrelated domestic disputes.
While Porter has cultivated a national profile as a progressive firebrand with viral whiteboard moments, critics argue that behind the scenes she has displayed an aggressive and often toxic leadership style.
With the California governor’s race heating up, the video could raise further questions about Porter’s temperament and treatment of her team as she seeks the state’s highest office.
