Voting Machines Reportedly Down in Three Republican New Jersey Districts on Election Day
Voting machines in three Republican-leaning districts of Cumberland County, New Jersey, reportedly went down early Tuesday, sparking concerns about potential voter suppression as residents cast their ballots in a tight gubernatorial race.
According to grassroots activist Scott Presler, who has been working across the country to boost GOP turnout, machines were non-functional in three red precincts just before 8:00 a.m. local time. He quickly alerted legal teams to investigate the issue.
“In 3 RED districts in Cumberland County, NJ, the machines are down,” Presler wrote on X. “On the phone w/ legal right now.”
Conservatives across social media warned voters not to be discouraged. Eric Daugherty of Florida’s Voice News said Republicans were “outperforming their 2024 turnout by double digits” in the area and warned of possible election “shenanigans.”
“STILL VOTE!” Daugherty added. “DO NOT let it deter you!”
Turning Point USA’s Andrew Kolvet amplified the concern, writing, “Shenanigans abound but do not be deterred!! Will update as we hear more… Vote Vote Vote.”
Presler later said the situation had begun to improve, reporting that local GOP State Sen. Mike Testa had successfully cast his ballot and that “several of the towns that had problems are back up & running.”
However, Downe Township Mayor Michael Rothman warned that some voters were reportedly turned away earlier without being offered provisional ballots. In a video shared by Presler, Rothman said, “We are, right now, in the middle of everything that is wrong with this system.”
The outage comes as the gubernatorial race between Republican Jack Ciattarelli and Democrat Rep. Mikie Sherrill tightens. A recent poll showed the two virtually tied in the final stretch, raising the stakes for both parties.
Presler, speaking to Breitbart News over the weekend, described this election as a “last chance” for Republicans in the state. He warned that many conservatives have already said they’ll leave New Jersey if Democrats continue to dominate the state government.
“If Mikie Sherrill and Trenton Democrats continue to crush New Jersey residents with their property taxes, you’re going to have hundreds, if not thousands, of Republicans leave your state,” he said.
