Trump Reveals Secret Weapon Used in Raid to Capture Maduro
President Donald Trump confirmed for the first time that a secret U.S. weapon, which he referred to as “The Discombobulator,” was used during the January 3 raid that led to the capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro. The president’s remarks mark the first official acknowledgment of the classified technology’s existence.
Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump said the weapon was deployed to disable Venezuela’s defenses as American helicopters entered Caracas to extract Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, who now face federal narcotics and weapons charges.
“The Discombobulator. I’m not allowed to talk about it,” Trump said. “They never got their rockets off. They pressed buttons and nothing worked.”
Until now, U.S. officials had not disclosed the use of any unconventional technology during the mission, but reports from both American and Venezuelan sources had hinted at electronic disruption. Trump’s confirmation supports accounts that U.S. forces neutralized radar, communications, and weapons systems before landing a small elite team in the capital.
According to Pentagon officials, the 88-minute operation resulted in no American casualties. Trump noted that Venezuela’s military had been supplied with Russian and Chinese weapons, including surface-to-air rockets, but all failed.
“They were all set for us,” Trump said. “And nothing worked.”
