Trump Promises Lawsuit Against Author For ‘Conspiring With Epstein To Do Harm To Me’
President Donald Trump announced Saturday that he intends to sue author Michael Wolff, accusing him of conspiring with deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in an effort to smear him. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump also floated the possibility of legal action against Epstein’s estate.
The former president addressed the matter after being asked about a newly released trove of Epstein-related documents. The records, which included millions of pages, thousands of photos, and video files, reignited public scrutiny around those associated with Epstein, including celebrities and political figures.
“Well, they should be, because it looked like this guy Wolff, who’s a writer, was conspiring with Epstein to do harm to me,” Trump said. “And I didn’t see it myself, but I was told by some very important people that — not only does it absolve me, it’s the opposite of what people were hoping, you know, the radical left — that Wolff was conspiring with Jeffrey Epstein to hurt me, politically or otherwise, and that came through loud and clear.”
Trump made clear that legal action is imminent. “We’ll probably sue Wolff for that. And maybe the Epstein estate, I guess, I don’t know,” he said. “We’re going to certainly sue Wolff.”
Pressed further on whether he would sue the Epstein estate, Trump replied, “Well … I guess so, because he was conspiring with Wolff to do harm to me politically.”
Among the newly released materials were a number of emails between Epstein and “the Duke,” widely believed to refer to Prince Andrew. Other documents included FBI-generated summaries of allegations against Trump that had been gathered ahead of the 2020 election. The Department of Justice, however, dismissed the accusations.
“Some of the documents contain untrue and sensationalist claims against President Trump that were submitted to the FBI right before the 2020 election,” the DOJ said in a statement. “To be clear, the claims are unfounded and false, and if they have a shred of credibility, they certainly would have been weaponized against President Trump already.”
Trump has long insisted he had no meaningful relationship with Epstein, frequently pointing out that he banned the disgraced financier from Mar-a-Lago years before Epstein’s arrest. The former president’s legal team has reportedly begun reviewing Wolff’s past publications and communications for potential evidence of coordination with Epstein.
The controversy comes as Trump continues to face a barrage of politically motivated attacks from media figures and liberal activists. But with the release of these documents and the DOJ’s statement of exoneration, Trump and his team believe they have a fresh opportunity to go on offense — this time, in court.
