Kamala Harris Says ‘I Haven’t Decided’ On 2028 White House Run

Former Vice President Kamala Harris declined to rule out another presidential bid Monday, saying she has not yet decided whether she will seek the White House again.

During an appearance on a podcast hosted by author Sharon McMahon, Harris was asked directly if she plans to run again. “I haven’t decided,” she replied. When pressed further on whether she was still considering it, Harris responded, “I might.”

Harris, 61, announced last year that she would not pursue the governorship of California, a move widely interpreted as keeping the door open for a possible 2028 presidential campaign. After her 2024 loss to President Donald Trump, speculation centered on whether she would attempt a political comeback or step away from elected office altogether.

According to recent polling averages, Harris and California Governor Gavin Newsom are viewed as leading Democratic contenders in a hypothetical 2028 primary. Harris currently holds an edge in early national polling, though the race remains years away and highly fluid.

Podcast host McMahon said she came away from Harris’ recent memoir, 107 Days, with the impression that the former vice president was interested in another run. Harris pushed back on that interpretation, saying the book was focused solely on recounting her experience during the 2024 campaign.

She said the goal of the memoir was to share lessons from that period and to encourage others, particularly young people, to see themselves in leadership roles. Whether that encouragement ultimately translates into another presidential campaign remains an open question.
