Trump, Netanyahu Hold Phone Call And Agree To Meet Soon
President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke by phone on Friday and agreed to hold an in-person meeting in the United States in the near future, according to a statement from Netanyahu’s office.
During the call, Netanyahu congratulated Trump ahead of America’s 250th birthday celebrations and praised the United States as a force for freedom around the world. He also emphasized the importance of the close alliance between Washington and Jerusalem.
The conversation comes as the two leaders continue to coordinate closely on major developments across the Middle East, including Iran, Gaza, and regional security issues. Trump and Netanyahu last met earlier this year during discussions centered on Iran and the broader security situation facing Israel.
While neither side disclosed a date for the upcoming meeting, both leaders agreed that an in-person summit would take place in the United States in the near future.
The phone call also appeared to signal continued cooperation between the two longtime allies despite recent reports of disagreements over strategy regarding Iran and military operations involving Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The White House did not immediately release additional details from the conversation, but the announcement was widely viewed as a sign that relations between the Trump administration and the Israeli government remain strong as tensions in the region continue to evolve.
