Paul Pelosi Charged In Napa County Hit-And-Run Investigation
Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is facing a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge following a crash in Napa County, California, authorities announced Saturday. The incident occurred in the town of Yountville in the heart of California’s wine country.
According to investigators, Pelosi was driving a brown convertible when he struck a legally parked and unoccupied vehicle along a local roadway. Witnesses reported that the vehicle briefly stopped after the collision before leaving the scene.
Deputies later located Pelosi’s vehicle a short distance away with significant front-end damage after it reportedly became disabled. Pelosi allegedly told investigators that he knew he had hit something but was unsure what it was and continued driving.
Authorities said alcohol was not a factor in the incident, and because no injuries occurred, Pelosi was not arrested at the scene. The case has been referred to the Napa County District Attorney’s Office for review and possible prosecution.
Due to Pelosi’s age, officials also submitted a driver reevaluation request to the California Department of Motor Vehicles to determine whether he should continue driving. Such referrals are common in cases involving elderly drivers involved in collisions.
The incident comes four years after Pelosi pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI charges stemming from a separate Napa County crash in 2022. He was sentenced to probation, fines, and a short jail sentence as part of that case.
