Lauren Boebert’s Son Arrested on Felony Child Sexual Exploitation Charges in Colorado

Rep. Lauren Boebert’s 21-year-old son, Tyler Boebert, has been arrested in Colorado and is facing multiple felony charges related to the alleged sexual exploitation of a child.

The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office said Tyler was taken into custody Sunday following an investigation and review by the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Authorities said the charges stem from an alleged incident that occurred in early 2024, when Tyler was 18 years old.

Court records show Tyler faces five felony counts, including three counts related to sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. One of the allegations involves possessing sexually exploitative material with the intent to distribute it.

According to court records reported by Colorado media, authorities allege Tyler recorded and shared a video depicting himself engaged in sexual activity with a minor. The girl involved was reportedly 17 years old at the time, while Tyler had recently turned 18. The allegations remain unproven, and Tyler has not been convicted in the case.

Tyler was released after posting a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to return to court on Aug. 19. The latest charges add to a growing list of legal problems for the congresswoman’s eldest son.

In 2024, Tyler was arrested following a string of vehicle break-ins and initially faced more than 20 charges involving theft, identity theft and other alleged offenses. He later reached a plea agreement that included a guilty plea to attempted identity theft and is awaiting sentencing in that case.

He has also faced separate legal trouble involving his young son. Tyler previously pleaded guilty in a misdemeanor child abuse case after his toddler was allegedly found wandering outside unattended. He is scheduled to be sentenced in that case in September.

Lauren Boebert issued a statement acknowledging the seriousness of the latest allegations while expressing support for her son. The Colorado Republican said she loves Tyler and that the family is praying for everyone affected as the legal process moves forward.

The arrest comes as Boebert seeks another term representing Colorado’s 4th Congressional District. Her son’s mounting legal troubles are separate from her congressional duties, but the serious nature of the latest charges is likely to bring renewed attention to the Boebert family as Tyler prepares to appear in court later this month.
