Trump to Tour Nassau County Police Facilities With GOP Governor Hopeful Bruce Blakeman
President Donald Trump is heading back to Long Island on Friday for a tour of Nassau County’s state-of-the-art law enforcement facilities alongside Republican gubernatorial candidate and County Executive Bruce Blakeman.
The president is expected to visit the Nassau County Police Academy, where he will highlight newly released FBI crime statistics showing a historic nationwide decline in violent crime. The visit will also recognize police officers, sheriff’s deputies, probation officers and firefighters serving Nassau County.
Trump will be joined by Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel, a Long Island native who grew up in Garden City. The appearance will put several of the administration’s most prominent law enforcement officials together as Trump highlights his public safety agenda.
The White House says Trump will focus on the FBI’s 2025 Crime Report, which shows the largest year-to-year decline in violent crime on record. The figures include an estimated 18.1% drop in murder and non-negligent manslaughter.
Blakeman welcomed Trump’s decision to visit, praising Nassau County’s law enforcement agencies and saying the president will get an opportunity to see the county’s facilities while honoring the first responders responsible for protecting residents.
The visit also comes at a politically significant moment for Blakeman, who is running as the Republican candidate for governor against Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul. Trump has endorsed Blakeman and has increasingly focused attention on helping Republicans compete in New York.
Blakeman has made crime, public safety and opposition to New York’s sanctuary policies central parts of his political identity. Nassau County has continued cooperating with federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement despite new state measures designed to restrict agreements between local governments and federal immigration authorities.
Trump and Blakeman have appeared together numerous times in recent years. The two attended the wake of slain NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller in 2024, and Blakeman joined Trump during the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black after meeting the president at Republic Airport.
The White House is also reportedly paying close attention to congressional races on Long Island, where Republicans are attempting to expand their strength in a region that has become increasingly competitive. Trump’s appearance could give GOP candidates additional attention heading into the midterm elections.
Friday’s visit will give Trump an opportunity to simultaneously promote falling violent crime, praise law enforcement and showcase one of his most prominent Republican allies in New York. For Blakeman, appearing alongside the president at Nassau County’s police facilities provides a high-profile platform for the public safety message at the center of his campaign for governor.
