Adam Schiff Directed Release Of Classified Info To Target Trump: Whistleblower
Democrat Senator Adam Schiff is facing explosive allegations that he personally directed the leaking of classified information to damage President Donald Trump and shape public opinion in the chaotic months following the 2016 election. The charges come directly from whistleblower testimony recorded in multiple FBI interviews, now declassified by FBI Director Kash Patel and delivered to Congress for review.
The whistleblower, who worked closely with Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee, told the FBI that shortly after Trump’s victory, Schiff called a meeting where he explicitly said the group would leak derogatory classified materials about Trump to the media with the goal of pushing for an indictment. According to the whistleblower, Schiff framed the leaks as a political necessity, convinced that Trump’s presidency represented a constitutional crisis. When the whistleblower objected, warning that the plan was “unethical,” “illegal,” and “treasonous,” others in the room reportedly reassured him they would not get caught.
In a 2017 interview, the whistleblower told the FBI that Democratic leaders on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) viewed leaking classified information as a legitimate tactic to “topple the administration.” The leaks, he said, began soon after Schiff convinced his allies that Russia had “hijacked” the election. The whistleblower further alleged that Schiff — reportedly bitter over losing out on the CIA director post he believed Hillary Clinton would have given him — told staff to actively gather Trump-Russia material for release through media outlets to “compel public opinion” against the president.
The whistleblower recounted one striking example: after a sensitive document was reviewed by only a handful of HPSCI members in summer 2017, its contents appeared in the press “almost verbatim” within 24 hours. The whistleblower suspected Rep. Eric Swalwell, who he said had a known reputation for leaking classified material, may have been involved. Swalwell, according to the memos, had previously been warned to be “careful” with sensitive information.
Schiff allegedly justified the leaking strategy by citing the Constitution’s speech and debate clause, claiming it offered lawmakers immunity for their legislative actions — an interpretation the whistleblower said was used as political cover. The memos also note that the whistleblower was later approached by unnamed individuals about leaking classified material in a separate meeting.
Kash Patel, who oversaw the declassification of the documents, says they confirm that intelligence was weaponized for partisan gain. “We found it. We declassified it. Now Congress can see how classified info was leaked to shape political narratives — and decide if our institutions were weaponized against the American people,” Patel said in a statement.
In another interview from late 2017, the whistleblower described a belief among some Democrats that selective leaking, coupled with an aggressive media push, could eventually lead to Trump’s removal from office. The FBI summaries also make clear that these leaks were not random — they were part of a coordinated campaign to undermine the Trump presidency by feeding classified information to friendly reporters.
One FBI memo notes that Schiff was “particularly upset” about Trump’s win and was determined to reverse it by any means possible. The whistleblower said Schiff’s approach prioritized media optics over legal concerns, and the speed at which sensitive documents made their way to the press demonstrated how disciplined and deliberate the leak operation was.
Patel has sent the memos to Congress for immediate review, urging lawmakers to investigate whether Schiff and his allies abused their positions to engage in a systematic campaign of politically motivated intelligence leaks. “For years, certain officials used their positions to selectively leak classified information to shape political narratives,” Patel said. “It was all done with one purpose: to weaponize intelligence and law enforcement for political gain.”
If proven true, the allegations could amount to one of the most brazen examples of political weaponization of classified intelligence in modern U.S. history — a coordinated effort at the highest levels of government to manipulate public opinion, attack a sitting president, and subvert the will of the voters.
