American Veterans Injured In Grenade Attack While Distributing Aid In Gaza

Two highly decorated American veterans working as contractors for the U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) were injured Saturday in a targeted grenade attack while distributing food aid in Gaza.

According to GHF, the assailants used Iranian-made grenades packed with ball bearings. The terrorists hurled them at the American aid workers immediately after a successful distribution of humanitarian assistance to civilians. The attackers then fled into the crowd. Thankfully, no Gazan civilians or other workers were injured.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) quickly facilitated the medical evacuation of the injured Americans. Both are in stable condition.

GHF officials believe Hamas orchestrated the attack. In a statement, the group’s director, Rev. Johnnie Moore, noted that the attack came just one day after GHF celebrated delivering 60 million meals on behalf of the United States and called for “Gaza’s independence from fear and terror.”

“Hamas responded by throwing grenades at two Americans feeding hungry families,” Moore said. “Violence is always their answer to hope.”

GHF had previously warned that Hamas had placed bounties on both American security personnel and Palestinian aid workers, offering cash rewards for those who injure or kill them. The group also reported that Hamas operatives have been seen near aid distribution zones, seeking to undermine the only functioning aid delivery system left in the region.

Last month, a senior Trump administration official confirmed ongoing threats from Hamas and emphasized that the administration is “laser-focused on Gaza despite other events in the region.”

The same official warned that Hamas “should be careful not to miscalculate.”

Suspicious activity near GHF sites has increased, with military-aged men reportedly entering distribution zones without collecting food and instead surveilling staff and security systems. Due to urgency, food recipients are not screened, leaving American contractors vulnerable. These contractors, under the rules of engagement, cannot detain suspects or share intelligence directly with the IDF.

In recent weeks, Hamas and allied Palestinian factions have publicly labeled humanitarian workers as “collaborators” and “legitimate targets.” Just last month, Hamas assassinated roughly a dozen Palestinian GHF workers en route to their first day on the job. Survivors were reportedly denied medical treatment by Hamas-aligned hospital staff.

“Hamas views GHF as a threat to its control,” one source familiar with the organization’s operations said. “GHF’s secure delivery model prevents Hamas from diverting, taxing, or exploiting aid. That undermines Hamas’s ability to use food as leverage over civilians.”

GHF sharply criticized the global community and international media for ignoring Hamas’s growing aggression.

“For weeks, we warned this would happen,” GHF said in a statement. “We asked the aid community to condemn threats. They stayed silent. We asked the media to stop laundering Hamas lies. They kept printing. Today, Hamas followed through by attacking American veterans with grenades. The silence is deafening.”

Despite the attack and ongoing threats, GHF said it will continue its mission. Since beginning operations on May 26, the group has delivered over 62 million meals to Gazan civilians, with 1.8 million meals distributed just on Saturday.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee reacted to the attack, posting: “With Hamas, no good deed goes unpunished.”

State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce called the assault a brutal reflection of Hamas’s priorities.

“This act of violence against the people actually bringing relief to Gazans lays bare the depravity of Hamas,” Bruce said. “GHF has contributed over 62 MILLION MEALS — nothing will stop these courageous aid workers. We are praying for the rapid recovery of the injured Americans.”
