Bill Maher Changes His Tune on RFK Jr. Amid Trump Critiques

In the past few months, Bill Maher seemed inclined to speak positively about Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Health and Human Services secretary who’s known as an anti-vaccine theorist. However, during a recent episode of ‘Real Time,’ Maher’s tune changed substantially. ‘I have to admit, I’m siding with the critics of Bobby Kennedy’, the host declared. Such a statement served as the conclusion to his introductory remarks, which revolved around several fresh incidences involving Donald Trump.

Maher delved into how the current administration, led by Trump, has caused such disturbance that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is left representing only a part of its initial acronym. But before he dove into that, he addressed the dismal jobs report released on that Friday. ‘We’ve just received a new jobs report, and the figures are dismal. Just 22,000 jobs—a pitiful number. Even Diddy recruits more staff for his parties,’ Maher quipped.

The anchor’s wisecrack was a playful way to reference an event that transpired the previous month when President Trump terminated Erika McEntarfer, the Bureau of Labor Statistics chief. The decision followed the Bureau’s release of a disappointing jobs report, and in response, Trump alleged without proof that the report was manipulated. Furthermore, he has proposed a replacement who, as recent news revealed, has a problematic history of posting prejudiced content on social media platforms.

Switching topics, Maher touched upon an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation that occurred at a Hyundai factory located in Georgia. Subsequently, his discussion turned to Trump’s illegal endeavor to rename the Department of Defense to the Department of War. ‘Indeed, we are at odds with numerous entities. We need to face that. The renaming of the Department of Defense marks our status as a nation at war… A throwback to our past, but this time the Department of War is supposed to signal our ‘ferocity’ per Trump,’ Maher illustrated.

Carrying forward the conversation, Maher distinguished the military action against individuals residing in Venezuela, whom Trump identified as involved in drug trafficking. ‘Apparently, these individuals were part of the narcotics business. Yes, there are countries in the region actively participating in drug trade, but Venezuela isn’t one of them. Nevertheless, Venezuela happens to be our fiercest competitor in the Miss Universe pageant. Perhaps that’s what really piques the President’s interest and fuels his resentment—they outsmarted us in the beauty contest,’ suggested Maher.

The host then shifted his attention to a meeting that took place during the same week, involving several global tyrants. Furthermore, he highlighted China’s massive military demonstration, which he described as spectacularly intimidating. ‘China just put on the most daunting military parade in recent history. Meanwhile, here, in the United States, we’re witnessing some significant changes. The Department of Defense is being rebranded as the Department of War. The State Department is, sadly, a mere shadow of its former self. However, I must mention that I’m joining ground with those criticizing Bobby Kennedy,’ Maher professed.

Maher then briefly focused on the congressional appearance of Kennedy, earlier in the week.
